Applicable guidelines

[edit]

Hi. I removed all those YouTube links and reformatted the section titles of Anindita Paul because the links violated Wikipedia guidelines (see WP:External links). Wikipedia is not a directory (see WP:What Wikipedia is not) leading to all of a person's works online. Also, WP:TITLEFORMAT calls for article and section titles to use ordinary sentence casing, without most of the words capitalized as one finds in the conventions followed in other places.

Therefore, when you restored all the YouTube links and added all the capital letters back to the titles, I reverted your changes. Largoplazo (talk) 22:54, 21 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've also just been through the article neutralizing the language. Wikipedia articles are written from a neutral point of view, not like a fan site. They aren't filled with expressions of glorification and admiration. They avoid peacock language, like telling us how renowned and prestigious and popular everybody is. Also, they don't act as a means through which their subjects communicate their own feelings, dreams, motivations, etc. These are unknowable, other than by what the subjects themselves claim. They cannot be externally observed and verified, and they aren't factual information about the person as discernible from the point of view of others. @Largoplazo: How do I cite Newspaper Interview which was published in major Newspapers and don't have any online version.

You can use the {{cite news}} template, between <ref></ref> tags. However, keep in mind that anything that she herself has said in an interview is still not necessarily reliable—it isn't as though people don't weave stories around their origins—and that she is a primary source, not an independent reliable source. I mean, if she says "I went to X school", that's probably acceptable, but if she says, "Oh, this producer just raved and raved about how wonderful my performance was", well, maybe he did or maybe she's just remembering it that way or wants us to think that. Hi, thanks for message. If you post an article it will be assessed as it stands. If you don't want that to happen, you should write it as a draft.

I deleted your article because

  • it did not provide adequate independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the company claims or interviewing its management. Most of your text was unsourced or sourced to Kher talking about himself, you need genuinely independent third party sources
  • There is nothing in your text to tell us why it meets the notability criteria, to show notability you need hard verifiable facts such as the number of employees, turnover or profits
  • it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic.
  • You even include a promotional comment in your article title!
  • Examples of unsourced or self-sourced claims presented as fact include: The institute’s alumni include popular Bollywood actors... to name a few. Global celebrities such as Oscar winners... the second largest network in the world... prominent international projects... The intensive professional-level courses provide specialised training in Acting and Screenwriting. The school offers a three-month long intensive, full-time professional-level diploma, as well as month-long evening Certificate programmes in acting. The courses impart training in acting, body movement, diction and voice modulation. Diploma students receive individual guidance and counselling from Anupam Kher throughout the programme. The institute also provides weekend and advanced weekend courses that not only help students to build the foundation of their acting skills and learn the basic techniques, but also to sharpen it further. — and so on. In fact the whole "Courses" section seems to have little purpose beyond promoting. And they are "offered", not "sold"!
  • Misused capitals and bolding to make sure we didn't miss any of the promotion, although this was removed by later editors. Examples include ACTOR PREPARES has expanded... The Anupam Kher Show - Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai... Khwaabon Ki Zamin Par... began telecast on Zindagi in October 2016.
