hey
you haven't been online much? Calvin • NaNaNaC'mon! 14:13, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
- Well hi Calvin. You are right. I am very busy in real life. I have exams right now and don't have anytime to make some Rihanna edits on Wikipedia:)! I am so sorry about that ... but for like 10 days I'm coming back. Also I'm happy that We Found Love will be no. 1 in the US this week. You don't have exams or stuffs like that? — Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 14:56, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
- No I don't have exams until May. How do you know We Found Love is #1 this week? Calvin • NaNaNaC'mon! 15:04, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

Hey, I'm going to nominate it again soon. Can you help me fixing the issues on Stronger (Britney Spears song)? Someone started the review, but I don't have much time. Waiting for your answer... :) - Saulo Talk to Me 21:03, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

Please let us know what you think
My friend, as you know, Beyonce's new album 4 is being handled in a catastrophic way (i do not know if this is a correct word). Please voice your opinion here so that we can decide which format will suit "Party" that best. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 15:38, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
Re: Stronger
Thank you so much for the help, pal! You really helped me a lot with this! Again, thank you. :) - Saulo Talk to Me 15:12, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Talk That Talk
See WP:FACEBOOK which states that Facebook and Twitter accounts of the subject (in this case, the artist of the subject) can be used as reliable sources when the accounts can be verified as belonging to them. Thus it's not unreliable in this case and waiting on "more reliable" sources is silly and useless. –Chase (talk / contribs) 19:22, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Another discussion, this time regarding "Love on Top"
First of all, my sincere thanks for your participation in previous Beyonce-related discussion. I request you to please weigh your opinion here. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 06:39, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

You should not be editing that page Tomica, it is archived, and it clearly states at the bottom of the page not to modify anything. Calvin • TalkThatTalk 12:53, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Farewell, Where Have You Been and You Da One. They are the only ones I've heard in the original key. Calvin • TalkThatTalk 19:35, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
- You haven't heard Talk That Talk? I download it in original key ... ahh I adore the song :). It's great, it's my favorite. I also like "You Da One". And I haven't heard any other song. I am waiting for the album to be released so can later listen to each one :). I hope "Talk That Talk" is released as a third or fourth single, so I can create and expand the article. I really like the song:). — Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 19:40, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
- I've heard a snippet of Jay's rap, but I haven't heard the song in full. And OMG, Watch n' Learn is a complete shocker, Rihanna sings extremely fast in it! Yes it could be good if you could write the Talk That Talk (song) article. :) Calvin • TalkThatTalk 20:10, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
- I just searched the net a little bit and found this. Since, I am free tomorrow and not going to university I will listen each song and gave an opinion about it. :) — Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 20:36, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
- It is clear Rihanna tried to do a "Countdown" (Part 2) with "Watch N' Learn". I want her to do that song live. Dying to see it. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 03:48, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

- Well I didn't know that did I!! Either way, Rihanna's West Indian influence definitely played some part in Countdown. Rude Boy Calvin • TalkThatTalk 14:39, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
- The Wast Indian influences you are talking about are from the "Baby Boy" era. Rihanna was still irrelevant in 2003. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 14:57, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

- So let me re-write it then: The West Indian influences you are talking about are from the "Baby Boy" era. Rihanna was still irrelevant in 2003. So i guess Beyonce's West Indian influences definitely played some part in Rihanna's work, right?!! ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 14:57, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
- And did you forget "Beautiful Liar"? ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 15:05, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
- Beyonce dabbled in West Indian music on Baby Boy in 2003. The next time she did it, was recorded in 2010 in Countdown, as you just informed me. Rihanna's West Indian songs became popular during the time of 2005-2009, and feature prominently in her work, so yes, Beyonce has definitely been inspired by Rihanna in that sense, just like how Rihanna is inspired by Beyonce. And Beautiful Liar is Latin American inspired song, not West Indian/Reggae. Calvin • TalkThatTalk 15:09, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

- It was you that first said about Baby Boy!! And I said Countdown was inspired by Rude Boy. Calvin • TalkThatTalk 15:21, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
- But Jivesh, critics also do not love Rihanna. Soooo what I would say here as they are very different artist, that have some similarities that were inspired by EASTER DEAN. Why? Because she oftenly writes their songs. — Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 15:23, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
- Oh yes, it was me????????? You wrote that Beyonce was inspired by Rihanna. I brought Baby Boy here only to show you that Beyonce started using West Indian influences first. I don't see any similarity in the instrumentals except the use of a steel drum. If your arguments hold, then Beyonce was inspired by Dutty Wine not Rihanna. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 15:24, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

- (edit conflict) All I was saying Jivesh is that Beyonce hadn't done anything West Indian/Caribbean/Reggae inspired since Baby Boy, and has now started to do it again, I'm just saying that Beyonce is inspired by Rihanna, as Rihanna has definitely popularized the genre. I think the instrumentals have a lot if similarities, but like Tomica just said, Ester Dean was behind both songs, and has written several of Rihanna's dancehall songs, so she definitely had a driving force behind Countdown. Dutty Wine features in Rude Boy, which beyonce incorporated into Baby boy at Glasto. Even my mum said that Beyonce was acting a bit like Rihanna! Calvin • TalkThatTalk 15:29, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
- Beyonce came up with those Indian influences first, it can only mean that Rihanna was the one inspired, and then she has popularized that.
- If "Rude Boy" and "Countdown" have similarities, why did critics never mentioned that?
- Dean wrote the song, she does not produce instrumentals. I suggest you read the article "Countdown".
- You are confused... Dutty Wine features in Rude Boy, which beyonce incorporated into Baby boy at Glasto. That means Beyonce was inspired by Dutty Wine.
- Acting like Rihanna? For heaven sake... Is Beyonce doing payola, is she vomiting her intestines in her videos, is he releasing an album every year, is she seen with a new boyfriend here and there, is she filming a sex tape with J. Cole, where on Earth did you mom see Beyonce theses days when Beyonce's ass is getting lazy as hell.
Instead of adding petrol to the fire, i prefer to add water. Let's cool down but never think my opinion has changed. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 15:29, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
- Jivesh please calm down because you are making me mad also. You know I am a big fan of Rihanna and everything that you wrote in the fifth statement is a paparazzi bullshit. Please calm down and keep good Beyonce-Rihanna relationships. It's fact that some of Beyonce's new song are similar to Rihanna's. The reverted situation was in the past. Rihanna was baby Beyonce, now she is a DIVA! — Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 15:40, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

- Calm down Jivesh, I'm allowed my opinion, I'm not bashing Beyonce. Rihanna grew up in the Caribbean, those genres are intrinsic to her. The vocal performance of Love on Top is similar to what Mariah Carey has done for 21 years, but no one compared them. Critics don't always pick up on everything. And what I mean't by Dutty Wine was that it was in Rihanna's Rude Boy video (Feb 2010) and Beyonce used it at Glasto (June 2011). Calvin • TalkThatTalk 15:46, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

- Come on Jivesh you know that I adore Beyonce. Don't be like that. However, like Calvin said that's also my opinion. Both of them are influicing themselves. — Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 15:50, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
The it is Dutty Wine not "Rude Boy". And LOT is much more similar to Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson and Steve Wonder if vocals is what you mean. If no, we have to bring Nathan here as well. Now, if you are comparing the pitch, i agree with you. And check this:
'Love On Top' employs a similar pacing [to 'Party'], though tonally, this track reminds one more immediately of Michael and Janet Jackson, as well as Stevie Wonder. This effervescent throwback escapes corniness by reveling in its pure joy and as such, it becomes one of the highlights of the album. The numerous key changes that flood the end of the song could seem masturbatory, but Beyoncé is not proving that she can sing as high as Mariah [Carey] or Whitney because we already trust her to. It is energy and not ego that drives the constantly rising progression.
So, critics did mention that.
★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 15:53, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
- Yes I am talking about the vocal performance of Love on Top, not the instrumental, combining the use of high belting and frequent falsetto notes, except Mariah more often employs whistles. The stylization of Beyonce's vocals is very similar to Mariah. And Beyonce can't sing as high Mariah. That critic is wrong. The highest note in Love on Top is a B5, Mariah's highest ever note is a G#7. (And I did "Mariah Carey" in the Ctrl+F on Love on Top, which is why i thought there was no mention. Calvin • TalkThatTalk 15:56, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
- Okay so now you are telling me the critic is wrong. Okay... Beyonce is fake, a copycat, a thief, unoriginal, not pregnant... I was sincerely going to stop it but this is getting simply irritating... First you tell me its Mariah, then no, it is the vocal, then no critics, then the critic is wrong, etc etc etc .... - (edit conflict) OMG Jivesh that's not what I said at all! No one in music has a wider range than Mariah. Not Beyonce, not Leona, not Celine, not Whitney, not Christina. You're taking this such the wrong way. I'm not bashing Beyonce or you, I am just comparing songs and singers. I think TTT is tipped to be the third single, judging by all these sources. It wouldn't surprised me, Rihanna and Jay-Z = mega success. Calvin • TalkThatTalk 18:33, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- I also think that the both of them would benefit from releasing it as next single. The response is positive and I also have some feeling that it will rock the charts. However, in one of the Wikipedia unreliable websites I read that in the beginning the song was not planned for a single release. But I think that after this positive response they are definitely releasing it. — Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 18:37, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- It will without doubt be a single. They can't not. lol. And what does "plinking" mean? Calvin • TalkThatTalk 18:38, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- Actually I don't really know. I gave Jivesh the source from PopDust and asked him what can be used from it. He wrote me this sentence:)— Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 18:40, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- "Emit a short, sharp, metallic or ringing sound." I don't think people will understand what plinking means, might be best to explain it. Calvin • TalkThatTalk 18:42, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

- You shouldn't really reviews articles the second they are nominated. Do you remember the drama I got caught up in because I reviewed Nathan's Mariah articles practically straight away? Calvin • TalkThatTalk 15:39, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
- What? There is some rule that the same user can not review two times the same article? Cause I don't know about it. Saulo withdrew the nomination himself last time, so I think that there will be no problem. Btw see you TP, I'm disturbed. — Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 15:41, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't say that. You can review it again if you want. But what I mean is, reviewing as soon as it's nominated. You should let the nomination stand for a bit, because other people may also want to review the article, or a Britney article. That is why I haven't reviewed for about 3 months now, because I was told not to review as soon as they are nominated. Calvin • TalkThatTalk 15:43, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Tom. I do not know if you have read them, but I left comments to your query on my talk page and you do not seem to have addressed all my concerns. Prompt fixes can mean the difference from an oppose to a support, and right now I am leaning towards the former. And I would not let it sit out for too long, else the delegates will archive the FAC page as "not promoted". Just a reminder, not a warning. Cheers! —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 18:58, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

- I have added NBSPs for you. See this edit to see how it's done. Ellipses (...) are not used in the beginning of quotations, such as "... scantily-dressed". It is only used over the course of the quote. Instead, it should simply be "scantily-dressed". —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 21:20, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

- Yep. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 22:12, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- I removed all the ellipses. Now I will try to be fast and add brackets to every publisher in the references. Just to note you that I will only add bracket when there is a work and publisher... Is it that okay? And about the pictures you mean to remove the for ex. 240px and just to add upright? About the booklet also don't understand a thing:). — Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 22:45, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, I suggest against your reference formatting. What I meant was only about the magazine publishers. You flip between parentheses and no parantheses. Stay consistent. Like the Billboard refs, some have "Billboard (Prometheus Global Media)" and some have "Billboard. Prometheus Global Media." Stay consistent, and keep it that way with ALL magazine refs. (2) You don't have to add upright, that's if the default size (without any specification) is too big for your liking. (3). Add the page number (
|page=
) for the Cite album-notes for the page number of the booklet that show the credits. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 22:55, 16 November 2011 (UTC)- Hey I re-worked the references. I hope they are good now, you can check them again. Also I remove the size of the picture, the Timberlake picture is a little bit big now, but however if you say so. And about the booklet ... - She's not a bad artist at all. I just think she should make her singing stand out more than the background beat. I also don't like how much controversy she has been stirring up, from S&M, to MD and WFL. My favorite songs by her are "Don't Stop the Music" and "Only Girl". —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 22:23, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
- I like her a lot, that's obvious and I think I will love her forever. However, you are right in your points. When it comes to singing, I don't know why, but she is great in singing her ballads. You can clearly see here or here. But when fast songs are questioned she uses background vocals. However, I like her singing. And about the controversy you are right, but I think she will changed it as the time goes by. — Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 22:28, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
- To tell you the truth, I've never enjoyed pop music very much. I find it gross and boring. :L There are few pop artists that I actually enjoy, one being Lady Gaga, simply because of her creative aesthetics, never-ending surprises, and an extremely powerful voice. The last thing i want is for R&B and soul artists to become pop, a direction that Rihanna is starting to follow. The days of "DSTM" and "Russian Roulette" were great, indeed. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 19:10, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

I disagree that Rihanna is becoming a solely Pop artist. Her last three albums have have been very influence by rock, dancehall and reggae and dubstep. She is an R&B Pop/Rock singer, but certainly not just Pop. Calvin • TalkThatTalk 19:16, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
- "Cheers" and "WFL" sound like pure pop to me. I guess her music is sounding more electronic, which I think is what I meant to say. I certainly don't like it, but I can't argue with her massive number-one hits and if my favorite artist chose to work with her, she's got to be good. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 19:21, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
- Cheers is Pop Rock and WFL is house/electro pop. I like how on You Da One she has combined dubstep with dancehall. It's genius. Calvin • TalkThatTalk 22:04, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
Little tip
When Talk That Talk (song) charts, and you wanna paste your sandbox into the article, so it doesn't create a spilt history, paste your edits from the sandbox into mainspace edit by edit, so start with the first then add each edit in. That's what I did with You Da One, because otherwise a spilt history is created between the two. Calvin • TalkThatTalk 19:31, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Mmmm don't really understand you. Can you explain me further? — Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 19:35, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Like, instead of pasting the entire sandbox in at once, do it edit by edit from the edits you've made. Look at You Da One and start here and look at the differences between the next revisions by me. Calvin • TalkThatTalk 19:40, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Aaaa okay. Thanks... Probably it will chart in Sunday in UK. — Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 19:41, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- It's 11 on US iTunes and 18 on UK iTunes. Calvin • TalkThatTalk 19:59, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Calvin, if the sandbox edits are all from tomica, why should tomica go to the bother of multiple edits? A one-time paste from the sandbox is perfectly appropriate, except where other users have had an effect on the sandbox copy (and then it gets messier). In any case, (although I've never tried it) I think the preferred way is to simply do a move (rename), so the history goes with it. You'll probably need an admin's help, because the redirect is in your way (try looking at Wikipedia:Requested moves). — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 05:05, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- I've done that in the past, John, much to admins discouragement, as it creates a spilt history. Admins don't like making the sandbox into the actual article, which is why I told Tomica what I do.Calvin • TalkThatTalk 11:22, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- I don't see what's split about it; when you do a rename you have exactly one edit history for it. When you copy it in from a sandbox (bit-by-bit or otherwise), then you have two page histories. Don't you?
- And even if I can eventually understand some detail I don't yet get about the histories, what's the necessity or usefulness of copying it in piece-wise? If you're the only contributor (up to a certain point) in the new, live article, why can't you just slam the whole thing in there all at once? — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 01:44, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- Not really, because both histories are the same. The spilt history by making the sandbox the actual article is because the article wasn't created in one edit. I'm only telling you what admins told me, so... Calvin • TalkThatTalk 01:46, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

- Like, instead of pasting the entire sandbox in at once, do it edit by edit from the edits you've made. Look at You Da One and start here and look at the differences between the next revisions by me. Calvin • TalkThatTalk 19:40, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

- Well, you know it redirects to Talk That Talk, as it appears under the title, you just click on it, then click edit, the remove the redirect code. I did put that it is your sandbox in the edit summary. If you was asking for an admin to do it, then does it matter if it was me or not? Disturbia GA Pass
Hey! I have passed the article for GA as all my concerns have been addressed, and the review has gone on for too long. Congrats! However, I am extremely terrible at putting the GA thing on the talk page, because I always end up messing that up. Could you give me a hand? Thanks for all your hard work. Loud GAN
I reviewed and and sorry to say, I also failed it. See Talk:Loud (Rihanna album)/GA2 for notes I left. Don't be angry, it is for the better. :) —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 22:05, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
- LOL. No, I am not angry, I can not be angry on you... you helped me a lot with "Rehab" and you are still doing, but I certainly have a question. Why don't you failed so quickly and didn't add your points. For example, on the first review Nathan waited for us like month and more :) ! — Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 22:19, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

- I put so much time and effort into that review for you, it took me ages. To be honest, looking back now, it was an undeniable fail. But, unlike some people, I don't really like to fail articles straight away. I have always given the editor the opportunity to resolve issues. Loud had been waiting for so long, and it feels like a kick in the face. And I fail to see where the review was Penguin, because in my opinion, it wasn't a review. - With all respect I have to agree with Calvin here Penguin. I am not mad about it, but I think you should just had to wait for us and give sometime to fix the issues that you have given. And yeah I and probably also Calvin, want to hear further what were the main issues and how can we fix them. — Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 13:43, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) I get how both of you are feeling; I've gotten a quick fail before working on an album GA and it pissed me off royally. But just remember: not everyone reviews the same. Penguin is not obliged to give you a big ass review just because you did so for him. If you'd like to renominate it and get a different reviewer, then do so. Just think of the road that's at the end of the tunnel and not the impatience of getting there. Hard work always pays off. :) — Status {talkcontribs 22:18, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
- I know, it just came as a surprise. I just think reviews like that after the nominators have been waiting so long is a cop out. I've had just a shit few days, especially on here, that this was the cherry on the top that just about did it for me. Now it will be another two/three, maybe four months, until it gets reviewed again. I don't even wanna talk about it anymore, because yes, it has annoyed me, and keeping on talking about it is not making it any better. Calvin • Watch n' Learn 22:44, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

I've made quite a lot of edits from the GAN review, well, basically all of them as there wasn't very many thing listed. So from now, it's down to us.
