Your First Article

[edit]

Hi, 10shistory! I just wanted to congratulate you on creating your first article. I put the {{wikify}} template on your article. This doesn't mean it's a bad article...all that template does is draw the attention of other editors to your article, so they will help you out. I know Kilo-Lima welcomed you already, but let me extend the welcome a second time, and if you ever need help, feel free to leave me a note at my talk page. Have a nice day!--ViolinGirl 17:21, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome. Some very nice articles you're creating. User:Zoe|(talk) 23:01, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Andy Roddick

[edit]

I have the Andy Roddick article on my watchlist and I noticed you've made some really helpful edits to it. Thanks!

By the way, just a suggestion but you might want to write something in your user page to help us get to know you better. :) Noelle De Guzman 16:07, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits to Thelma Coyne Long are appreciated, but copying material from this site is likely a violation of the copyright to that material. Your additions to Wikipedia must be in your own words. Cheers! BD2412 T 04:55, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Harris Coggeshall has been proposed for deletion. An editor is concerned the this person isn't notable enough for an article. Please review WP:BIO for the relevant guidelines. If you can address these concerns, please edit the article to make this person's importance more clear. You might also want to explain your reasoning on the talk page. Remove the deletion notice if you believe you have made your case.

If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the prod template, the article may be deleted without further discussion. If the tag is removed without the concerns being addressed, the article may still face deletion through debate atWikipedia:Articles for deletion.

Let me know if you have any questions. NickelShoe 16:16, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

-- Please review changes that have been made. It is hoped these alterations rescind the necessity of deletion. 10shistory 20:01, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's good enough for me, but a lot of people have higher standards than I do. Make sure to put it on your watchlist so you'll know if somebody decides to send it to AfD for discussion. NickelShoe 20:15, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The "historic" Cincinnati tennis tournament

[edit]

Hi, I don't want to upset you, but I think that the word "historic" is inappropriate in all the places in which you apparently have put it. Sure, I agree that in the article about the tournament itself you can call it historic. In all the others, though, such as the articles about Talbert and Trabert and the dozens of people who have played in that tournament, it's unnecessary. Okay, it's old. Say so in the major article, then forget about it. I myself have been playing tennis for 50 years, and following it keenly for that period of time, and I've gotta say that I've never even *heard* of the tournament. To me, it's just one more tournament among 20 or 30 every year. The old Forest Hills tournament was historic. So is Wimbledon. So is Roland Garros, but they're not called historic in the articles about Gonzales, Borg, Laver, and the others.... Hayford Peirce 02:50, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

-- I disagree with your characterization of the tournament as "just one more tournament" (it's one of only a few in the world which are mandatory for the top players), but I respect your opinion. And in that spirit of mutual respect, would you be so kind as to refrain from using the word "baloney" on all of your edits of my work? 10shistory 21:29, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:1 W&S Both 4C on background.gif)

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading Image:1 W&S Both 4C on background.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Addhoc 14:37, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Kreigh Collins, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article L. Harry Waidner, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. I see you have a history of working on the article William Harris (tennis). I am looking at it from the project Wikipedia:Unreferenced articles where it is one of the longest {{unreferenced}} tagged articles that does not meet at least the barest minimum of verifiability. It has been tagged and completely without references since June 2006. It would be extremely helpful if you had some references you could add to the article to help support its verifiability and notability. Thanks for any help you can give. BirgitteSB 17:51, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Greater Cincinnati Tennis Association requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Bstone (talk) 21:04, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article Herbert Behrens has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced, notability therefore unclear

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello 10shistory! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot notifying you on behalf of the the unreferenced biographies team that 16 of the articles that you created are currently tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 13 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
