Hi Geoff,
One of the edits was to the name of our organization, the Ballona Wetlands Land Trust. I see that another editor has corrected name again, which is appreciated.
Another edit was to correct the year that the Ballona Wetlands Restoration Project was first announced and funded, which was 2004 and not 2009. I also added the date that the Final EIR was certified. The factual timeline provides important context. There is some other outdated information on the page, such as the claim that work could begin in 2023 or 2025 once the United States Army Corps of Engineers approves the plan. The application for these approvals was withdrawn and has not been resubmitted. Please let me know the most efficient way to ensure that information on this page is accurate and up to date.
Thanks!

Hi Geoff,
I wanted to provide an additional source showing that the Ballona Wetlands Restoration Project has been in the planning process since 2004, not 2009. Below is a link to a May 27, 2021 staff report of the California Coastal Conservancy, the state agency that is funding the project.
https://scc.ca.gov/webmaster/ftp/pdf/sccbb/2021/2105/20210527Board05_Ballona_Wetlands.pdf
"An extensive planning and public process for the restoration of the Ballona Reserve began in 2004"
"The Conservancy has authorized funding for this project nine times: Sept. 2003, Dec. 2004, Dec. 2005, March 2006, April 2006, Sept. 2007, June 2008, July 2011 and Jan. 2012."
"CDFW staff have been working closely on this project with the Conservancy since 2004."
Additionally, the currently cited source makes no reference to the project being "in the works" since 2009.
The timeline of the planning process is highly relevant to the public's understanding of the project. I hope that this and other official agency records are sufficient to change the date in question to 2004, which is when planning for the restoration of the Ballona Wetlands began. Thanks.
