Welcome!

[edit]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! 220 of ßorg 05:08, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dear IP editor,

First of all, welcome to Wikipedia! I'm genuinely sorry if I gave you the impression that I reverted your edits because you are a new editor. I know that it is very unpleasant when someone reverts your edits, but please believe me when I say that it was only because I disagreed with the content. If such a disagreement arises, it is expected from the user whose edit was reverted to start a discussion on the talk page of the article in question (see WP:BRD). Could you please open up a discussion (e.g., on the talk page of sulfuric acid) before you make any further changes?

Sincerely, Apaugasma (talk|contribs) 19:38, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

i have no problem with discussing with you, but you seem to be an administratoror an experienced editor who despise ip users like me, as you revert every ip edit you can find to forcibly push your pov and sources into wikipedia articles, that's not fair and i just found a wiki article about bahaving like that with newbies : https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Please_do_not_bite_the_newcomers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.115.184.249 (talkcontribs)
Thank you for your reply. Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~). You can indent comments by putting one or more colons (:) before them. If you like, you can practise this and other wiki code at the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the Teahouse.
You are right that I am a somewhat experienced editor, though there are many editors around here who have a lot more experience than I do. Please be aware that I am not an administrator. Also, even if I were an administrator, that would not give me the right to revert without good reason, and actual administrators would never ever do that. I too was once an IP editor, so I understand where you're coming from. As I explained above, when someone disagrees with one of our recent edits, we normally start a thread on the article's talk page to discuss the edits. Re-reverting is strongly discouraged, especially if more than one editor disagrees with you.
You seem to have gotten the impression that I revert edits merely to force my own point of view. I am truly sorry for that. I normally try to explain each edit in my edit summary. However, it is not always easy to do this accurately, and I can imagine that some of my edit summaries may not be clear to everyone. That is why we go to the talk page, to try and clarify things up a bit :). Also, like many other editors, I often find myself reverting edits made by IP users, but please understand that this is merely because there are much more unconstructive edits which are made by IP users than there are unconstructive edits made by registered users.
I hope you enjoy editing here, Apaugasma (talk|contribs) 23:07, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Edit warring information

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Hydrochloric acid. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose their editing privileges on that page. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to result in loss of your editing privileges. Thank you. 220 of ßorg 05:12, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
I was an IP editor for 2 solid years, so no bias on my part. The above 'warning' is mainly for your information about Wikipedia (WP) rules. See also WP:Bold, revert, discuss (WP:BRD). I suggest creating an account. Regards, 220 of ßorg 05:22, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
