Allegations policy

[edit]

I saw that you argued that "allegations unless proven cannot be included" in WP:BLPs, which is not true. That is not how Wikipedia works at all. Credible allegations sourced to reliable reporting are frequently included in articles, including biographies of living persons. There is no policy or guideline that universally prohibits the inclusion of reliably sourced and credible allegations, no matter how serious. You must be basing your judgement on a personal intuition or a misunderstanding; I would suggest consulting WP:BLP and WP:RS. For this specific matter, see WP:PUBLICFIGURE: "If an allegation or incident is noteworthy, relevant, and well documented, it belongs in the article—even if it is negative and the subject dislikes all mention of it." The policy on people that are relatively unknown (WP:BLPCRIME) does not apply here, since the article subject is a public figure. Actualcpscm (talk) 14:29, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please refer - Wikipedia's sourcing policy, Verifiability, says that all quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source using an inline citation; material not meeting this standard may be removed. This policy extends that principle, adding that contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced should be removed immediately and without discussion. This applies whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable and whether it is in a biography or in some other article. The material should not be added to an article when the only sources are tabloid journalism. When material is both verifiable and noteworthy, it will have appeared in more reliable sources.
Biographies of living persons ("BLPs") must be written conservatively and with regard for the subject's privacy. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a tabloid: it is not Wikipedia's job to be sensationalist, or to be the primary vehicle for the spread of titillating claims about people's lives; the possibility of harm to living subjects must always be considered when exercising editorial judgment. This policy applies to any living person mentioned in a BLP, whether or not that person is the subject of the article, and to material about living persons in other articles and on other pages, including talk pages. The burden of evidence rests with the editor who adds or restores the material.
Lets say the person who included this has a family member who is a celebrity, someone randomly makes few allegations including the one made now. Do you think its fair to encourage that to become a part of the person's profile on wiki? Unless proven by law makers or the matter is taken up in any legal manner this cannot be included. In this case, there is ZERO evidence of taking up the matter with a police report/complaint/court. Just a random allegation and this person includes it in the wiki profile. Do you think its fair? Please think without any bias. 102.220.159.182 (talk) 08:19, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Draft:Trade Kings Limited (Zambia), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
