Chinese venues

[edit]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia.

Since you seem to know about the venues for snooker tournaments in China, having just added the Tianjin People's Stadium for the International Championship, could you please confirm if I got the right venue for the Wuhan Open. I have it as the Wuhan Gymnasium which I got from this source, but I'm not 100% sure that's correct. It still might have been the Wuhan Sports Center. I haven't been able to find a good reference like you did for Tianjin.

Thank you.  Alan  (talk) 18:39, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

According to WST official news it is Wuhan Stadium, and its address is as same as Wuhan Gymnasium. Sadly, a lot of venues in China does not have a unified translation, you can see Wuhan Stadium in WST resource and Wuhan Gymnasium in Gov of Hubei resource. Maybe we can change the venue into Wuhan Stadium in Wuhan Open and redirect to Wuhan Gymnasium? I will also try to contact with the staff of the venue later to get official English translation.
Brilliant - thank you. In that case I think it's best to leave the Wuhan Open as it is for now. If you get a better translation then we'll have to change the Wuhan Gymnasium article anyway.  Alan  (talk) 15:08, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. I have contacted with the staff on Wuhan Gov official online message board, and it is expected to get reply soon~ 光头葛炮 (talk) 05:37, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Staff said it is more accurate and safe to use 'Gymnasium' if a specific sport event to be held in a venue, just like Taekwondo event was held in Wuhan Gymnasium during 2019 Military World Games, but it is also OK to use 'Studium' as it refers to the whole area. All in all these two translations can both be the official translation. I am not a native English speaker so it is hard for me to tell the subtle difference between these two translations and then choose one, but I hope the information could help.
Brilliant - thank you. So we'll leave the Wuhan Open as it is.  Alan  (talk) 07:51, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also - would you have any idea where I can find a poster to use as a "logo" for the International Championship, like the one I got for the Wuhan Open which came from the WST website? They don't seem to have one.  Alan  (talk) 19:51, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sadly the ticket of IC have not gone on sale actually, so there is not an official poster yet. If I get it I will send you a notification~ 光头葛炮 (talk) 05:41, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A source found, the second image is the poster, hope that can help.
Brilliant - thank you.  Alan  (talk) 11:07, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Here we go again! Do you have any information regarding the venue for the upcoming World Open to be held in Yushan in March?  Alan  (talk) 11:35, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Of course! I found this source and the venue will be Yushan Sport Centre, as same as 2019.
Thank you - well done!  Alan  (talk) 15:46, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Would you have any idea where I can find a poster to use as a "logo" for the World Open in Yushan? I can't find one at all.  Alan  (talk) 19:25, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's not released yet. I can't find one too.
Thanks anyway. Please let me know if you find anything.  Alan  (talk) 07:16, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have any information regarding the venue for the upcoming Xi'an Grand Prix to be held in Xi'an in August?  Alan  (talk) 06:48, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Xi'an Qujiang Sports Complex, which is also mentioned by 西安大奖赛. Here is a link officially mentioned the venue by local government.
Thank you.  Alan  (talk) 16:27, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We are going to need citations for the Wuhan venue and the Xi'an sponsor.  Alan  (talk) 11:47, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wuhan venue and Xi'an sponsor 光头葛炮 (talk) 12:06, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2024 Championship League

[edit]

I can't find a proper reference anywhere about Zhang Anda replacing Mark Allen, other than the name being changed at the official website. snooker.org doesn't have it yet either. Have you seen anything?  Alan  (talk) 10:01, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly, I haven't found any sources other than the official website either. Maybe snooker.org just forgot to verify and update the draw.
