Questions on COI
Since this question apparently has not been asked: do you currently have a financial or legal relationship with the Bulgarian government, or any of its affiliated entities (embassies, permanent missions), with regards to any public relations work, including SEO, media and any other PR? Can you please disclose any other relationships you have with Irina Bokova, or UNESCO, or the UN, as it may pertain to your frequent edits on her Wikipedia page? - Hi, thanks for your quick response, also for your email – will take me a day or two to respond. Continued courtesy also appreciated. Yes, I'm specifically asking with regards to that section, on "financial or other relationships". You advertise that you do PR work, on your website "Launched, owns and manages Global Solutions and Consulting, LLC, which advises companies from the U.S.A. and the European Union, non-profits, governmental institutions, and individuals on improving their marketing and sales, government and international organizations relations, and overall performance." -- nothing wrong with that, but it's reasonable to ask how this relates to your current work at Wikipedia. - Thanks. I hope you understand that your question is loaded. It is exactly that type of question that is raised in the "information" from one "news outlet" (quotes are on purpose), which are the reason that I have moved couple of sentences from the main article about Mrs. Bokova to the talk page. You take a sentence from my personal website, or from my Facebook page, you make an assumption, and then you ask a question, which is loaded. I am sure you know that there's no response to a loaded question. So, unless you have some evidence to bring, I am sure you would understand why you cannot get an answer to such a question (it is also explained in the article about loaded question). And since you can find the answer to your question in the same sources you quoted above, including in the quote from my personal web site, that's another reason why one could reach to the conclusion that the question is loaded.

- Veni, it is explicitly not a loaded question. It is entirely reasonable to ask whether you have a COI. (If you have a better way of phrasing this question for my future reference, do let me know.) You are also side-stepping the question, in your answer. In the New York Times, you previously were cited as an advisor to the President of Bulgaria (2003, here), and also more recently, in 2009 in another capacity. Specifically there, you were described as "Veni Markovski, a Washington-based adviser to Bulgaria’s Internet security chief". (See here.) On either NYT article, there is no record of you disputing that characterization.
- Do you continue to work in any such capacity? Is the Bulgarian state, or any other entity affiliated with Ms Bokova's candidacy, your client, in any way, over the last two years? If so, and it is stated policy of Bulgaria to nominate Irina Bokova, you clearly have a COI when editing aspects related to her candidacy. If you have no such conflict, you can state so freely, without hedging or qualifying your response. Given the visibility of this issue, and the concern by several editors that important information on a major public figure is being suppressed, it would be great if you could go formally on the record with your answer. If you prefer not to do that (which is understandable) maybe you should indeed stop editing this page, which anyway may be sensible, by many standards. Hundnase (talk) 16:29, 29 March 2016 (UTC)
- The NYT made an error in 2003 (13 years ago, by the way). I was never adviser to the President. I was chair of his President's IT advisory committee, which was a non-paid body, and where we had people like Vint Cerf, Esther Dyson, George Sadowsky, Dimitar Ganchev, and other serving. None of us was an adviser - and the evidence is on the Bulgarian President's archived site. Actually, the NYT reported it correctly in this article, which is published the same day, as the one you quoted. I am surprised that you dig one of the quoted articles, but not the other - it doesn't require a lot to find them both, and realize that one of them made an error. Of course, why would you accept that the error is the one you quoted, and not the other one - well, check additional sources! As for the quote from 2009, that's correct - back then I was advising the Bulgarian cybercoordinator, but a) it is 2016 now, and I am not sure why would you think that this is still the case, especially that you also have b) this article from the same newspaper, NYT, from 2010, which states that at that time I had a different position. And the question is loaded, because you are assuming I am working for the government now, based on a quote in the NYT from 2003 or 2009, while avoiding the rest of the publicly accessible evidence. Seriously? If I was working for the Bulgarian government, I would have no reason to try to hide it - especially given how public my work is. And I say it is a loaded question, because the issue with the COI was discussed on Bokova's discussion page some months ago. No, I don't have such. I am not part of the team, announced by the Bulgarian Foreign ministry, that works on Mrs. Bokova's candidacy. In any case, it is not my task to provide evidence to loaded questions; it's up to the accuser to provide evidence in the other direction. Evidence would be a contract between me and the government, for example, and not a quote from 2003 or 2009 -- and by the way, the article about Veni Markovski clearly states what I did 2006-2009. They actually seem to increase doubts that any sensible person would have on how you represent yourself. You list, on your ICANN professional page (with updates after 2014), the following title: "Office of the National Cybersecurity Coordinator, Senior Advisor - Government Administration, Advising the Bulgarian National Cybersecurity Coordinator (cybersecurity tzar), 2009-04-01 - Present", here. So is that an error? If it is inaccurate, why do you keep it there? This is your bio, on the page of the organization you work for. The entry is recent. Yet up above, you deny that you do this work right now. What is really going on here? Either you have a COI, or you misrepresent yourself in other ways, or (most likely) it's just a mistake or sloppiness. At this point, would it not be better you focus your editing on other entries? - thanks for picking up the old information is not corrected there. If you find other places, please, write here or email me, so I can ask to be corrected. This is really helpful. Of course, your other statement are not correct, as you only put two options (either - or), but not the third option, the natural one, which would be "or the information about your advisory role has not been updated as per your Wikipedia page". But it is good you have put some effort in finding this information, as it is helpful for me. As for your claim, I stated long time ago, quoting the Wikipedia page for COI that I don't have such. Since this is a loaded question on your side, instead of asking me to provide evidence I don't have COI, it is proper to show any evidence proving the opposite. You pointed to a bio page, which will be fixed to reflect the correct dates (which, btw, exist elsewhere). Please, if you have something more substantive, let me know. - On your loaded question, I can only state something, which I have already said: I don't have COI, as it is well described in the page Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.
- If you have any evidence that show differently, please, provide it. Above there is nothing that shows I am working for the Bulgarian government, and since you cannot show such evidence, I would consider the question as closed. Support for Bokova Candidacy - For the Record

Your commitment and support is understandable, and she may indeed be a wonderful candidate, and the motivations are well explained and reasonable. But given your sentiments, I do not think you should edit her Wikipedia page -- especially not continue to promote Bokova, and suppress any information that may be less flattering. - I wouldn't trust the Google Translate so much, and I wouldn't say that my personal views, as a Bulgarian, have influenced in anyway what I have written on any of the Wikipedia pages that I have edited. And they are much more than just the one of Mrs. Bokova. If you claim I have CoI, you need to prove it, based on actual edits, and also based on the description in Wikipedia itself: "Conflict of interest (COI) editing involves contributing to Wikipedia about yourself, family, friends, clients, employers, or your financial or other relationships. Any external relationship can trigger a conflict of interest. (The word interest refers here to something in which a person has a stake or from which they stand to benefit.)"

Hello! Thank you for your recent contributions to Castle Kyalami. I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:
|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]
Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:
|image=SomeImage.jpg
.
There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption
. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks!! Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

This is an opportunity for all to gather, share and work collectively towards a more robust account of history. For this month, we'll focus on Wikipedia casual editing, ways to use and develop Wikidata, building better edit-a-thon tools for a variety of different thematic campaigns, and user-testing them with the community. The Wikipedia Asian Month Edit-a-thon @ The Met will be the Metropolitan Museum of Art's second edit-a-thon, hosted on Sunday November 19, 2017 in the Bonnie Sacerdote Classroom, Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education (81st Street entrance) at The Met Fifth Avenue in New York City. Following the first Met edit-a-thon in May 2017, the museum is excited to work with Wikipedia Asian Month for the potential to seed new articles about Asian artworks, artwork types, and art traditions, from any part of Asia. These can be illustrated with thousands of its recently-released images of public domain artworks available for Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons from the museum’s collection spanning 5,000 years of art. The event is an opportunity for Wikimedia communities to engage The Met's diverse Asian collections onsite and remotely.
Attendees should bring their own laptops and power cords. Light snacks, drinks and cake will be provided. We also welcome remote participation for the global online Wikipedia Asian Art Month, running November 1-30. Hello, Вени Марковски. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Translat-a-thon NYC 2019 @ LaGuardia Community College is hosting the second annual Wikipedia Translatathon! At this event on Thursday evening and during the day Friday this week, anyone from the public is invited to LaGuardia to join students, professors, and CUNY faculty in translating Wikipedia articles among any languages which attendees understand. Themes for this event include public health and the history of New York City. New York City has a large immigrant population and great diversity of speakers of various languages. Among all schools in New York City, LaGuardia has the highest percentage of immigrant students, the highest percentage of students who speak a language other than English as their first language, and the greatest representation of language diversity. It is a strength of LaGuardia that it can present "Wikipedia translatathons", which are Wikipedia translation events. |

It's the last weekend for Camp: Notes on Fashion, and we will have an intro talk to the exhibit by a guest from the Costume Institute, and participants will then be able to visit it on their own. The Wikipedia Asian Month Edit-a-thon @ The Met will be hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Saturday November 16, 2019 in the Bonnie Sacerdote Classroom, Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education (81st Street entrance) at The Met Fifth Avenue in New York City. The museum is excited to work with Wikipedia Asian Month for the potential to seed new articles about Asian artworks, artwork types, and art traditions, from any part of Asia. These can be illustrated with thousands of its recently-released images of public domain artworks available for Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons from the museum’s collection spanning 5,000 years of art. The event is an opportunity for Wikimedia communities to engage The Met's diverse Asian collections onsite and remotely. Asia Art Archive will host a sister event in Hong Kong next week.

Add more detail on the actual back-and-forth between the gov't, church, opposition, &c. in April-May 1943, which is anyway what the article is supposed to be about. The article does not exist to say something nice about Bulgaria, it's there to detail a part of the Holocaust. Good, well-detailed sources are Chary and Crowe, there cited. - In many historical topics, scholarship is divided, so several scholarly positions should be relied upon. To weight different views and structure an article so as to avoid original research and synthesis the common views of scholars should be consulted.
