Bot created a page with a nonexistent template
I'm not sure why this happened on only two pages, but the bot created a page with a nonexistent template, {{Archived talk}}. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:07, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Jonesey95: The source code of the original page specifies the archive header to use that template. Not a bot issue. Majavah (talk!) 13:23, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
- Good detective work. I have fixed the problem at the source. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:37, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
Premature AN/I archives
The bot just archived a handful of active AN/I threads - including one concerning Sidianmsjones, who was likely going to receive a community ban. Can we have those discussions restored? DÅRTHBØTTØ (T•C) 18:46, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
- @DarthBotto: Lowercase sigmabot III has no way of knowing if a thread is "active" (whatever that means) or not; it merely compares the latest date in the thread against the archive configuration for the page. In the case of WP:AN/I, the configuration has
|algo=old(3d)
so any thread is eligible for archiving if it is more then three days since anybody posted to it. The thread presently at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive1066#Sidian Jones and promotional / COI editing was last posted to at 21:20, 30 April 2021 (UTC). Three days after that is 21:20, 3 May 2021 (UTC) and the thread was not archived until 03:07, 4 May 2021 - nearly six hours after it became eligible for archiving. There is nothing "premature" about it at all. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 18:58, 4 May 2021 (UTC)- @Redrose64: The definition word "active" is (of a thing) working; operative. In this case, it's a shame that the discussion slipped by and without measures taken. DÅRTHBØTTØ (T•C) 19:26, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
- No bot can judge that. There are three things you can do: (i) live with the rules as they stand and accept that occasionally a thread will be archived when it's been waiting for some days for a reply; (ii) get the archiving period extended from three days to a longer period - this should be discussed at WT:AN/I; (iii) turn off automatic archiving and hope that people like SNUGGUMS (talk · contribs) will use OneClickArchiver judiciously. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:33, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

Commenting here since I was pinged. Just for the record, I only use that archiver on threads that are already closed, and tend to wait until at least 24 hours have passed since their closures. Having a bunch of inactive threads feels like clutter, and archiving those away helps make it easier to locate ongoing discussions. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 19:37, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
- Maybe it would be prudent to use {{DNAU}} if you fear that a discussion could be going stale.
- Check out User:Σ/Testing facility/Archiver while we're discussing this! I'd like to add an option to unarchive a thread in the future. It would be pretty helpful when threads are prematurely archived. →Σσς. (Sigma) 04:11, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
Franklin child prostitution ring allegations
Franklin child prostitution ring allegations | |
Franklin child prostitution ring allegations,
The author of this page should be held accountable for implying the Franklin child prostitution ring allegations was a hoax! This article is related to government officials trying to hide the fact that government officials are having child sex, This article is of a very sensitive subject and should not have been written so lightly and immature. The author should take the time and add all relevant facts to the case. For example, the boy was compensated in a civil suit however the author failed to mention this in their sources. There are many articles the author could have shared about this case but chose not to for what reason? Is the author part of a people trying to hide sources which would portray the United states as faulted as other countries and people? I have been an avid reader and money contributor to Wikipedia over many years and because of this authors most awful puke display of an article I made an account and my first edit. When I saw the above by an obvious conspiracy theorist who is obviously not posting for the first time. I though, "Benjamin Franklin? Aretha Franklin? Franklin, Quebec? USS Franklin (1795)? Franklin Roosevelt? Roosevelt Franklin? It turns out that the obvious sock puppet is talking about Franklin child prostitution ring allegations. Which was a hoax. --Guy Macon (talk) 12:56, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
Recent WP:VPT thread about OneClickArchiver mentioned User:Σ/Testing facility/Archiver and...
I don't quite understand how they work differently but I am a very not-tech person so it can take me a while to "get" these types of things... Anyway, I was having an issue with OneClickArchiver that I posted about at Wikipedia:Village_pump_(technical)#OneClickArchiver_issue in that OCA automatically moved content to the wrong archive, instead of moving content to the talkpage's most recent archive (Archive 5), it moved it to a talkpage's Archive 1. So, how does your Archiver work better? It's ok, explain it as if to a child... Shearonink (talk) 04:11, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Archy McArchface works in two steps:
- select which threads you want to archive
- specify the specific page you want to archive the aforementioned selected threads to
Give it a try - WP:SAND is at your service. →Σσς. (Sigma) 08:50, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
