Whats wrong the Kingdom of Smallia?
Whats wrong with the page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MicronationKing (talk • contribs) 04:17, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
- If you more closely examine the notice I put on your talk page, you will find that it was explained that the article did not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant, as per WP:CSD#A7. But A7 is not the only hurdle, because "important or significant" is of a level lower than "notable". Like Thekillerpenguin said on your talk page, Wikipedia cannot have an article about something unless it has received coverage in 3rd party sources. I hope this helps. →Στc. 05:56, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
I noted that you suggested a topic by Tepi be deleted. The above article suffers from a similar problem. See the discussion in Talk:Dimethylsulfidemia.JSR (talk) 17:16, 1 July 2012 (UTC)
- I'll stay out of it, because the subject of the article isn't my strong point. →Στc. 21:31, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

CSD Tagging
Hi! I'm New Page Patrolling and I noticed a page Lose My Soul Lyrics. It just has the lyrics to a notable song, but I'm not sure what to CSD tag it as. Please help me. Thank you, Electriccatfish2 (talk) 21:15, 1 July 2012 (UTC).
- I'm going to A7 tag it, since I see that the user has made similar pages and they have all been tagged for that reason. Feel free to tag it for some other reason, if you want. Electriccatfish2 (talk) 21:18, 1 July 2012 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) :Well, WP:LYRICS says that [an article that consists only of lyrics] could also be speedy deleted by an admin for lack of context. This is clear, saying that it can be CSD'd as A1 for lack of context. However, I see that in the article, the first sentence states that it consists of the lyrics of a song. WP:LYRICS also says, Most modern songwriters and poets have not released their works under an open content license and therefore their inclusion in Wikipedia violates their copyright. Copyright usually expires 70 years after the author's death. The album was released in 2007, and the author of the work is still alive. We should assume that it is copyrighted, even if we cannot find a copyright notice. However, a link to the lyrics at [1] has a copyright notice, All Tobymac - Lose My Soul lyrics, artist names and images are copyrighted to their respective owners. All Tobymac - Lose My Soul song lyrics might be restricted for educational and personal use only. The contents of this webpage are Copyright Protected © www.lyricstime.com 2002-2012 All Rights Reserved.
- The article consists of copyrighted lyrics, and removal of the copyrighted material would result in an almost empty article. As such, it could be tagged with either A1 or G12, both per WP:LYRICS. I would go with G12, because copyright violations must be removed quickly. →Στc. 21:27, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

WikiCup 2012 June newsletter
Apologies for the lateness of this letter; our usual bot wasn't working. We are now entering round 4, our semi-finals, and have our final 16. A score of 243 was required to reach this round; significantly more than 2011's 76 points, and only a little behind 2010's 250 points. By comparison, last year, 150 points in round 4 secured a place in the final; in 2010, 430 were needed. Commiserations to Pool A's igordebraga (submissions), who scored 242 points, missing out on a place in the round by a whisker. However, congratulations to Pool B's Grapple X (submissions), whose television articles have brought him another round victory. Pool A's Cwmhiraeth (submissions) came second overall, with an impressive list of biological did you knows, good articles and featured articles. Third overall was Pool D's Muboshgu (submissions), with a long list of contibutions, mostly relating to baseball. Of course, with the points resetting every round, the playing field has been levelled. The most successful Pool was Pool D, which saw seven into the final round. Pool B saw four, C saw three and Pool A saw only the two round leaders.
A quick note about other competitions taking place on Wikipedia which may be of interest. There are 13 days remaining in the June-July GAN backlog elimination drive, but it is not too late to take part. August will also see the return of The Core Contest- a one month long competition first run in 2007. While the WikiCup awards points for audited content on any subject, The Core Contest about is raw article improvement, focussing heavily on the most important articles on Wikipedia. As ever, if you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Lowercase sigmabot
It needs to deal with redirects better: this edit broke the redirect. — This, that, and the other (talk) 07:25, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
- This edit should do the trick. On another note, the code was written when I was less knowledgeable in Python, and I do think it needs to be rewritten. →Στc. 07:38, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
- And it just happened again. Well, I'll stop the bot and get the new code ready as soon as possible. →Στc. 08:01, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Secretariat of Academic Affairs
Hello Σ. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Secretariat of Academic Affairs to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question - it's not really promotional, in fact dead boring, and this guy is evidently not getting the message from speedy deletions. I am hoping that a more detailed explanation may get through to him. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 22:53, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of NFA, National Fire Adjustment Co., Inc
This is about User_talk:Kmbarone#Speedy deletion nomination of NFA, National Fire Adjustment Co., Inc. I moved the page (to National Fire Adjustment Co., Inc) at about the same time as you nominated for deletion, and now the Speedy deletion tag isn't showing up on the new page. You might want to clarify that for Kmbarone. (Also you nominated it fairly soon after it was created. I thought it is better to work from the back of the the unpatrolled backlog) Tideflat (talk) 03:00, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, the page was deleted before Kmbarone recreated it. The text of the recreated version is similar to that of the deleted version. Do you think it should be deleted again? →Στc. 03:17, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
- Oh, that makes sense. As for deleting it again, I am not very familiar with Wikipedia polices on the matter. (I am more of a RFD person) It didn't sound overly promotional, to me, but it still isn't of high quality, but I wouldn't speedy delete it. Maybe AFD it? Tideflat (talk) 04:21, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

SPI and Twinkle
I came across this Twinkle issue, and was wondering whether this is actually worth fixing. I imagine you wanted Twinkle to "merge" multiple SPI reports made on the one day. However, this would be quite difficult to code into Twinkle, and in circumstances where someone else made the other report earlier in the day, it would be confusing to have two reports from different users merged into one. What do you think? — This, that, and the other (talk) 11:57, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I see a SPI report with several features.
- Date in the level 2 heading
- List of suspected socks, with link to the user compare report
- Signature of a user, which should be right above the "Comments by other users" section
- Content below, before the next level 2 heading or the end of the page
- I too believe that this might be difficult to implement. But merging two reports from different users into one could be avoided by checking if the signature of the earlier report contains your username. →Στc. 05:20, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
- I'll take heed of this advice. No plans to implement this any time soon, though! — This, that, and the other (talk) 11:42, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Notice
Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Malfunctioning bot. Thank you. Guerillero | My Talk 19:04, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
Fix instructions, then
If you wish editors to use the emergency shutoff page and my talk page for any similar future problems then the logical thing to do would be to remove "Non-administrators can report a malfunctioning bot to Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents." from User:lowercase sigmabot. Given that a) your bot screwed up and b) the instructions on the bot user page are contradictory, the comment I'm sure all involved in this thread read the bot's userpage and made note of ... struck me as unnecessarily snarky. Hello Σ
Hello Σ, I saw where you fixed the typo on Fastily's commons page. I fully agree with the fix. Incidentally however, I was edit conflicted, and part of my reply was to the other comment. To retain fidelity, I did reinstate the previous edit. I hope you don't take offense for it is nothing against you at all. Best regards 76Strat String da Broke da (talk) 20:57, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

One wonders sometimes if there shouldn't be a test before editors are allowed to place speedy deletion and PROD tags. Drmies (talk) 04:07, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
- One wishes sometimes that there actually was a test before editors could place CSD and PROD tags. Turning NPP into a user right, as suggested by Kudpung, is not a bad idea. →Σσς. 21:15, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
Discussion you may want to take part in
Hello, I started a discussion on the CSD talk page involving contesting speedy deletions. The article is pertinent to decline vs. contest. Earlier today you contested my CSD (which was fine) but it seemed to me that you were actually declining it (again which is fine). However, getting your input on the discussion could prove vital to understanding to everyone. It would just be appreciated if you dropped a line. You don't have to. Have a good day!Keystoneridin (speak) 04:59, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

CSDH
Is this tool only for admins, or can any NPP use it to tag for CSD? Thanks, Electriccatfish2 (talk) 11:25, 17 July 2012 (UTC).
