RevDel Xenharmonic Wiki

You didn't bother to check if there was any "real person, animal, organization, or web content" before removing the stub, which since it has removed, obviously cannot be expanded upon. This sort of thing is why I, an early extensive contributor to Wikipedia, mostly don't attempt to add content any more. Kindly restore the article.Gene Ward Smith (talk) 05:19, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RevDel Debbie The Laughing Dolphin's article

Why was Debbie The Laughing Dolphin's article deleted? Both times there was no reason given. Notable sources were provided. If those sources are not notable will you please explain why?

Thank You

Black Dot Vodka

Rvsuvarna can you please provide some feedback on the black dot vodka page i just built on my user space. I would appreciate your help and guidance in getting this article to wikipedia's standards and live. Thanks a lot.

  • This looks exactly like the last version, and has the same problems: (1) it uses promotional/advertising language like "with a hint of cherries", "smooth, clean finish", and "distinctive label"; (2) winning a third prize for label design at one local show doesn't make this product notable per WP:N. NawlinWiki (talk) 17:19, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • No. You're still trying to advertise. "Hint of cherries"? "Distinctive" label? "World-class product"? If you can't bring yourself to write an article with no laudatory adjectives, then it doesn't belong here. NawlinWiki (talk) 03:16, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Grandrat

Dridged (talk) 22:38, 3 August 2011 (UTC) Good Day, My article was deleted two times with the same reason. I fully understand the first deletion because the article does not contain any notable content. As I rewrite the second article “not to mention that I forgot to talk to the first admin that I will rewrite the article” I have added more notable writings and images as a proof. As I reviewed the guidelines, in my understanding, the company was notable because of the independent charities and help they give to the OSY’s (Out of School Youths) moreover aiding the entrepreneurs of the local province as mentioned in the writings. It is quite easy to be said and done but the poverty and growth of the OSY’s need much more of attention. In the year of 2004, the company’s charity works expanded the gift giving of support and love not just to the OSY’s, entreps, marketers, but to the victims of typhoons which are commonly natural to the province. As I fully understand, the company’s objective and service is an infrequent one that they actually giving free service with no demand of payments to internet marketers, organization, entrepreneurs, OSY’s and other charities without inserting any promotional citation, quotation or writings. If I overlooked and failed to notice a big part of the article any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You[reply]

  • Notability, for Wikipedia purposes, does not mean "doing worthy things." It means recognition per the standards of WP:CORP, by reliable, independent sources per WP:ORG. The independent recognition is essential. It's not enough to say "It's my company and I know we did this." NawlinWiki (talk) 22:47, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I was the admin who deleted the page the first time, and I just now went back and reviewed the second version you made. The second version comes a little bit closer to meeting the minimum requirements to not be speedily deleted. It almost asserts importance, but not too clearly--it's still borderline. Even if it were undeleted, though, as written now it would still eventually be deleted, because, as NawlinWiki says, nothing in that article shows that Grandrat has been found by independent, reliable sources to be notable. The most common way that you can demonstrate this is to provide information written in reliable magazines, newspapers, trade journals (though not press releases), etc., that have talked about Grandrat in detail. If such sources don't exist, then they can't have an article on Wikipedia (at this time). If you do think you have such sources and want to work on improving the article, let me know and I can move the article temporarily into a holding page in your userspace; this would give you a chance to work on the article to show that the company is notable. However, if such sources don't exist, there's no reason to do that, as the article will inevitably be deleted eventually. Qwyrxian (talk) 00:22, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Selectrica

IanAndersen (talk) 23:39, 3 August 2011 (UTC)Hi there. I respect your decision to remove my page, but it seems a little hasty. I posted a response as to why the page shouldn't be deleted and asked for advice and instead it just got deleted. I modeled the company listing after reviewing several other private and public company profiles and I didn't do anything out of the ordinary. Would you mind providing more detail? The page was Selectica. Thanks, Ian.[reply]

IanAndersen (talk) 23:47, 3 August 2011 (UTC) In addition, another moderator wrote that what I was writing was fine. you can see on my talk page. Thanks.[reply]

  • I can't speak for the other administrator, but the article consisted entirely of a list of products, citations to the company's own website or PR releases, and promotional copy like this: "Over the years, Selectica enhanced and added solutions to create a suite that spans the entire deal process from product configuration, pricing, and quoting (CPQ) to contract renewal. Today, over 100,000 users in over 20 industries utilize Selectica’s solutions." The article needs to (1) be written in neutral language, and (2) provide *independent* sources showing the company's notability. Given that you are the company's marketing manager, WP:COI also applies. NawlinWiki (talk) 23:58, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

IanAndersen (talk) 00:45, 4 August 2011 (UTC)Thanks Nawlin. I appreciate the response. I understand that COI applies and I was trying to be upfront about that. With that said, we clearly need to do a better job at providing neutral content. I'll work on that. Is there a process for submitting content for review so it doesn't have to go live then get taken down? Thanks.[reply]

IBCS-PRIMAX

J1477 (talk) 09:38, 4 August 2011 (UTC) Hi. My Article on IBCS-PRIMAX Software (Bangladesh) Ltd. was deleted. I created this page for putting the reference on the page "List of companies of Bangladesh" (http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_companies_of_Bangladesh) which does not have an Information Technology category. I added an Information Technology category which was deleted as well. If my page was to be deleted, I believe many other companies on that page like "Nitol_Motors_Limited" should have also been deleted. IBCS-PRIMAX software Ltd. is one of the few Zend partners in Asia, an Oracle platinum partner (there are only two in Bangladesh), and also CMMI level 3 certified company. It has developed many large scale software in the Government sector as well. I was in the process of adding all this information when you deleted the page. These are all neutral facts, that is, it is not just a small enterprise in Bangladesh. I can provide numerous references if that is required. At present the IT sector in Bangladesh is growing fast. The Government has designed a revolutionary "Digital Bangladesh" program that is automating all business processes across all industries. Hope you'll reconsider.[reply]

SEQanswers issue

SEQanswers page on wikipedia is NOT an advertisement or promotion page. SEQanswers is a community maintained, freely accessible forum for bioinformaticians in life science field. The forum does not require any fee for registration. SEQanswers (www.seqanswers.com) is cited multiple times in Nature (www.nature.com) and other top scientific journals such as PLoS. Please allow me to create the page. Thanks. Marcowanger — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marcowanger (talkcontribs) 16:10, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article was written as if it was on SEQanswers' own website -- "We hope to become the central location for next generation sequencing technology" etc. Please review WP:NPOV. Also, you need to find reliable independent sources (see WP:V) that establish that this site is notable per WP:WEB. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:12, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RevDel request (again)

Please see [1]. It was a copy-paste of this version of Lake Washington Technical College. I moved the LWTC article to Lake Washington Institute of Technology and redirected Lake Washington Institute of technology (notice lower case on "technology") to that page.

Not sure if the best course of action here is to RevDel the original copy-paste edit per CFRD 1, or delete the page altogether and recreate it as a redirect, or delete it without recreation since I've created the page with proper capitalization, or do nothing at all. —KuyaBriBriTalk 17:54, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Given the WP:BLP implications would you consider revdel all of this users edits ? Mtking (edits) 23:47, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Falling In Reverse Deletion Review

A new article on a band is up for deletion review here: Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2011_August_5#Falling_In_Reverse|. It seems to me the band now clearly passes WP:Band since it is No 19 in US album charts and so it might be nice if the article could be recreated now. I bring this to you as you deleted an earlier version. Any views? Best wishes (Msrasnw (talk) 10:13, 6 August 2011 (UTC))[reply]

You full-protected Template:Time measurement and standards a few years ago. As this template is not really widely used (161 transclusions) and not an obvious vandal target, could we try semi-protecting or perhaps even fully unprotecting it? Ucucha (talk) 18:13, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you change the revision history of a page recently. Although I've been an admin for many years, I've never done this. I don't know how to do it or when it's appropriate. Could you point me to the relevant info? Thanks, Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:54, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hoping you can help,

Hi, You just deleted the article "Comedian Jason Stewart" from my edits and his reference on Jason Stewart, I am curious as to why (you do have comedian Jason Stuart referred on the same page), I thought maybe it was confused as advertising because I referenced press releases? I was simply creating a page for someone. Not a fan page just a reference article page. It called for proof this is a real person so I linked his homepage and facebook. perhaps that was where I went wrong? Just hoping you can help me correct what I did wrong rather than just deleting another professionals existence. Thank you for your time and help if you would. Pixi Anderson — Preceding unsigned comment added by Panderson79 (talkcontribs) 19:31, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ps. I did read the "Why" on this page and cant see anything I did that matches it. If you need further proof I am not him I can provide you with that also. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Panderson79 (talkcontribs) 19:35, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • The whole thing reads like a promo piece. For example: "These days Jason can be seen all over the country not only as a highly regarded stand-up headliner but also as an accomplished show producer. Be on the look out for him..." Wikipedia is not a PR agency, and we don't tell our readers to "be on the look out" for anyone. See WP:NPOV and WP:SPAM. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:37, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah its because I just used his website /released public bio and then I realized thats probably the way it sounds so I will rewrite it, Sorry I didnt even think about the movie release thing in there or whatever. Sorry about that, and thanks for the reply :)

oh sorry one more question... can I re-add him to the Jason Stewart reference once I rewrite the bio to specific standards? As I had him before so it will redirect to "Comedian Jason Stewart?"

    • It's always best to write an article in your own words, rather than using the subject's own words or those of his website. If you write in a neutral tone of voice, and supply reliable references (WP:V) showing Mr. Stewart's notability per WP:BIO, you should be fine. Also, the new article should be titled Jason Stewart (comedian) per our naming conventions. And yes, if the new article is acceptable, you can add it to the Jason Stewart disambiguation page. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 20:51, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Add Virtual Nations page

I was adding the page of Virtual Nations, a game in the style of e-republik, Nation States. It's a game over a year created, as well as others which are already listed on Wikipedia. I barely started and already the page has been deleted, or added more information, just put the basics. Soon going to add more.

ok,But several similar games and less noticeable, and very incomplete pages are here. My idea was to add a list of online games, but leaves. Maybe one day achieve. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adilsonmrj (talkcontribs) 22:18, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tyze Personal Networks

Hi there,

Curious why the Tyze entry was deleted as there are a few very similar to it (MyWayVillage, e.g.) up. Appreciate your help getting it up to snuff to be posted as a great article. Chughestyze (talk) 23:38, 9 August 2011 (UTC)Cindy Hughes[reply]

Tyze contd.

Thanks for your speedy response. I can see how the language was a bit too descriptive, that's easily changed. If I work for a company, does that mean I'm not allowed to contribute to a wiki page about it? Apologies for my ignorance I am new here.

Thanks Chughestyze (talk) 23:51, 9 August 2011 (UTC)Cindy[reply]

    • It means you need to be very, very mindful of being neutral. Because your job is probably to promote your company and spread good things about it on the Internet, you might find that difficult - a lot of employee-contributors aren't able to remain neutral. Also, you need to be very mindful of supporting every assertion in the article with a reliable independent source (see WP:V) - which means don't use the company's own site, or its PR releases in the media. RevDel

I'm concerned that those revisions you're deleting don't meet the criteria. They don't appear to be allegations, harassment, grossly inappropriate threats or attacks, browser-crashing or malicious HTML, shock pages, phishing pages, known virus proliferating pages, and links to web pages that disparage or threaten some person or entity as specified by criterion RD3. I'm also concerned that deleting two- or three-year-old revisions is more likely to draw attention to what you're trying to hide than just leaving it buried hundreds of lines down in the history. Compendium_wmc deletion

I would appreciate an answer as to why my page has been deleted. The name was merely chosen to reflect a post I held at the school - Compendium, branch of the student union (basically the News Office). If you would actually check my edits, you'd realize that I often clear the WMC page of any agent websites that are planted there as Blackhat SEO practice. Shouldn't I at least have received a heads-up before you deleted the page. What does this measure pose for my credibility editing pages on Wikipedia? Compendium wmc (talk) 12:31, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • The problem is that you are using your user page to promote an organization: "We hope that you will aid us in this task and help us promote WMC for the pearl that it is." That's not permitted per WP:SPAM, even on user pages. NawlinWiki (talk) 12:42, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Wenzhou Medical College does not have any branch named "Compendium, branch of the student union" at WMC. For more information and verification please contact http://www.wzmc.edu.cn/en/contact_us.php . This user (Compendium_wmc) is continuously deleting our partners information and was providing wrong information about school also i.e undermining number of students, faculty and staff numbers. etc. xeerox1 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 08:30, 14 August 2011 (UTC).[reply]

Re: rejected CSD

Apologies for choosing the wrong criterion for my proposed CSD of MOZGALEVSKY Nikolai Osipovich. It was simply the closest criteria I could think of, having never imagined a piece of writing so bafflingly incomprehensible. I literally have no idea what (if anything) it is about. As you suggested, I will set up an AFD. I think I'll need a strong drink first though... ŞůṜīΣĻ¹98¹Speak 22:04, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey NawlinWiki. Noticed that you deleted above article. I was thinking that being the coach to recent US Open winner Rory McIlroy was a reasonable claim of significance. Do you mind looking at that one again? Thanks, The Interior (Talk) 03:23, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • OK, fair enough. But this was the entire article: "michael bannon is a golf professional in northern ireland and is coach to rory mcilroy, michael coached rory from childhood and worked on every part of his game culmonating in rory winning the us open in 2011 and becoming world no4, michael resides in downpatrick county down having worked in holywood golf club and bangor golf club" At this point, I would think this should be a redirect to Rory McIlroy unless someone is willing to write an actual article with sources (and punctuation). NawlinWiki (talk) 04:29, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
True, it wasn't much to look at. I think there's enough coverage (http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sport/golf/mcilroy-magic-is-the-xfactor-16022285.html) for a stub at least, I'd be willing to slap one together. The Interior (Talk) 04:42, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
