::I forgot that you are a checkuser now. The block was mentioned at [[Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Deanops]], which is why I asked. That investigation request keeps getting bigger and bigger as more socks pop up, and then seeing the initiator get blocked as a sock (without any clarification) raised a few eyebrows. I'll slap a template up on the userpage to let the others know what's going on. Revision as of 10:49, 20 November 2009

My wheel-warring policy:
Admins: If you see me make a logged action that you think I should not have done, I will not consider it wheel-warring if you undo it without asking for my permission. However, if I marked the action as being done after running a checkuser query, or as part of a sockpuppet investigation, you should ask me or another checkuser before undoing it. In any case, if you do revert one of my actions, I would appreciate it if you tell me that you did so. Thanks!

Thanks

Hey thanks for the revert to my user page What makes it more funny is that's my dang IP Address stupid sister or bother must have done it. But anyway thanks for the revert now i must go talk to my bother or my sister. Have a nice night or day depending on where you live.

Purging edit summaries of deleted revisions

Hello J. I've recently picked up the mop and am still learning the toops and procedures. I'm presently looking at possibly cleaning up recent attacks in User talk:NJGW through a delete and selective restore operation, as you did several months back. I understand the delete and restore steps. However, when I look at the deleted revisions, I see that most of the prior edit summaries have been replaced with "(comment removed)". How can I do that. I cannot find instructions on the Wikipedia:New admin school/Deleting page and my searches to "comment removed" have been unsuccessful. Could you please enlighten me? -- Tom N (tcncv) talk/contrib 05:43, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That is done using a tool called RevisionDelete. Currently, only oversighters have "write" access to this tool. Admins can view most logs, but they cannot suppress content themselves. J.delanoygabsadds 06:12, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. -- Tom N (tcncv) talk/contrib 13:52, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, the link you are trying to provide is dead. Please provide a link that is in blue. This will automatically affect other users seeking attention with this link.----Boeing7107isdelicious|SPRiCh miT meineN PiloteN 06:30, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Howdy - just a quick query; was wondering why you did this reversion please ? It's not obvious from context. Ta. - TB (talk) 09:14, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, I don't remember... J.delanoygabsadds 17:07, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I've undone your undoing then. Or should the un's cancel out ? .. perhaps I've just do'ed it. I've reverted your revision - revisiovertified it. Anywho, the IP editors changes are back in - they seem to make sense. Cheers. - TB (talk) 22:42, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked user GA nom

The blocked user Kathyrncelestewright nominated The Nightingale here. I was wondering if I should speedy fail it because the user will not be able to make the necessary changes. Thanks, Airplaneman talk 07:41, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know. I usually don't involve myself in GAN. J.delanoygabsadds 20:20, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Regarding Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Pioneercourthouse, looks like sleeper Psyouboo (talk · contribs) snuck through. Maybe another range to check? Thanks. Wknight94 talk 15:05, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes please. Thank you. Katr67 (talk) 18:46, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I looked at him, and the others. No range blocks are possible, but I picked up a couple of sleepers. J.delanoygabsadds 20:19, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm..

Was this too rude when I gave this warning to the user you blocked: 'This is the only warning you will receive for your disruptive edits. If you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did to Zelda Fitzgerald, you will be blocked from editing. You think we can't tell when you lie? Stop '. I'd like your opinion. Thanks A8UDI 02:42, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it's really worth it to say things like that. They know we know that they are wrong already. J.delanoygabsadds 02:46, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
kk. thanks A8UDI 02:47, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of access

Hello J.delanoy. Unfortunately I am no longer as active as I was on vandalism/spam fighting on this wiki and I do not want to hold unused flags I request you to remove my rollback flags here. As you know I'm a global rollbacker and it seems that per policy I am allowed to use it so if some day I found any vandalism or spam I think it should not be a problem to use it and, of course, in the event any admin would require me to have local rollback again I will request it through the normal ways. Thank you, --Dferg (talk) 21:18, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done. There shouldn't be any problem at all with you using your Global Rollback on this project. J.delanoygabsadds 21:31, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Gracias. --Dferg (talk) 21:32, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ResearchEditor

He's running a little faster; I accidentally added a new report to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/SPI/Subpage - Pending close#ResearchEditor. Sorry about that, but he used to add a new sock farm every 2 weeks, and he's now getting back to once a week. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 08:07, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Used 203.189.83.87 deserves another block

You blocked this user a week ago for a week and he's back ... the acc't is clearly only used for vandalism (although of a very minor sort) BobKawanaka (talk) 14:33, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

128.8.0.0/16

I have unblocked 128.8.0.0/16 which is the range used by the University of Maryland. There seems to be substantial interest in using Wikipedia for editing in classes there. Fred Talk 21:36, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Just tell them that if the vandalism gets out of hand again, it's going to be blocked again. J.delanoygabsadds 21:39, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The vandal has struck again. One more UMD attack, and I'm reinstating the block, but leaving account creation open so that classes may edit without too much trouble. SchuminWeb (Talk) 02:33, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Vandal strikes again. I'm reinstating the block. SchuminWeb (Talk) 01:26, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You were the last one to block this IP

so would you like to do it again? [1] JohnWBarber (talk) 04:11, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I doubt it's the same person, so I left him a warning, and I will keep an eye on him too. J.delanoygabsadds 04:16, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blocking

A bit ridiculous isn't it, considering I have never edited anything on Wikipedia before, yet I get on the website to find a message saying i've been blocked. I think you need to work on your system a bit more with IP's.

118.208.138.17 (talk) 02:11, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Someone from your IP did. See this and this. J.delanoygabsadds 02:54, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please help us stop Piracy

Please don't bring back the torrent, music links

We are concerned about PIRACY

Thank You for understanding

There are no torrent links on that page. J.delanoygabsadds 01:42, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MajorMinorMark

You blocked this guy for sockpuppetry. It's likely that he is someone's sock (judging from the edit history, and his knowledge of policy), but he's not been overtly disruptive, and he's actually been helpful in the ongoing sockfest surrounding "team touchdown". Could you fill us in on what's going on? Thanks. Horologium (talk) 03:12, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He is unquestionably the same person as Bot-From-Another-World, who, based on the logs from a while ago, is the same person as User:Pickbothmanlol. J.delanoygabsadds 03:18, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I forgot that you are a checkuser now. The block was mentioned at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Deanops, which is why I asked.
