Drive-in theatre etiquette

[edit]

The drive-in theatre also have their own applicable etiquette. These etiquettes include rules such as drivers dimming lights when entering the lot and keeping car lights off throughout the film such as the break lights to decrease distraction, as well as rules for bigger vehicles moving to accommodate for other movie viewers and the prohibition of littering.[1] With around 4500 drive ins open in the United States durning the 1950's, researchers claim this period to have had the highest number of drive-in theatres. This was before the emergence of fast evolving digital technology including sound and projection equipment. In the decades following the number of drive-in theatres started to dwindle rapidly. In 2017 there were 5500 indoor cinemas, leaving the number of outdoor theatres at 319. [2]
