Yousef Khoshkish was the last governor of the Central Bank of Iran before the Iranian Revolution. He was arrested two years after the revolution and was tried for three days based on the charges of the Islamic Revolutionary Court, including the charge of keeping the value of the Iranian rial dollar constant against the US dollar for five years. He was executed on the morning of Friday, August 15, 1980.
National Bank of Iran
[edit]Yousef Khoshkish was a simple bank employee who, after passing the banking employee entrance exam abroad, departed for France and worked in banking for a time there. After returning to Iran, Khoshkish served for some years at a bank. He participated in another exam that organized by the National Bank; he passed the exam, and then went to England to complete his studies. In 1936, after the completion of his university studies, he returned to Iran and served as a head of one of the offices of the National Bank until 1939.
