Carly Rose Sonenclar
Dear Zappaomatic, I would appreciate it if you discontinue referring to Carly Rose Sonenclar as of Jewish origin. No need exists for this information. Additionally, the proper format would include reference to her father and mother, their names and some description.
My concern goes beyond "a noble cause". Tadelstein9 (talk) 17:28, 19 August 2013 (UTC)Tadelstein
- Actually, as long as it's reliably sourced, it is fine. Per WP:BLPSOURCES, only if something is poorly unsourced, or sourced by an unreliable source, then it could be deleted without discussion. As her Jewish origin has been sourced, discussion must occur at some point. Also, there is no proper format if their names are not provided in any reliable sources. ZappaOMati 21:32, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
I looked at the source page on Jewcy, which has no sources itself to indicate how they got their information. How do we really know if Carly Rose Sonenclar is Jewish. I have a Jewish last name, but I'm not Jewish. That didn't stop two Palestinians from coming after me following September 11, 2001. I'm not saying we should not indicate her heritage, I would like a more reliable source than Jewcy. Results table
Nice work on adding the table to David Ragan. In the future, you can feel free to crib the table from the baseline I've created here - it has all the correct links for the races and all the seasons (except for Nationwide, which only goes back to 1988 and which I plan to finish soon). Keep up the good work! - The Bushranger One ping only 05:30, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
- @The Bushranger: No problem, though just for my sanity, it would be nice to remove the race results and just have the race links and seasons, since it's sort of a pain having to remove Jeff Gordon's results to add in another driver's results. ZappaOMati 02:46, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

- You can't unblock yourself; you need an administrator to do so. If you do happen to get blocked, use {{Template:Unblock}} and place it on your talk page with a reason for why you should be unblocked. If you can convince the administrator you will not do whatever you did to get blocked, you might be unblocked. ZappaOMati 01:41, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Hey Zappa, I know you are a football fan, but I am assuming you are pretty neutral between the Michigan Wolverines and my dear Penn State Nittany Lions. As such, would you mind reading my summary of the game at the aforementioned link (the monster second paragraph), and editing for clarity as well as length, removing any NPOV or OR, or at least flagging it as such, so I can look to source it in the coming days? Thanks - I normally can do this on my own, but I am still psyched and riled up about our victory. Four overtimes. Unbelievable. Go Phightins! 02:55, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
- That's quite a wall of text. I'll get to it once the NASCAR race concludes, which should be in about 2 laps. ZappaOMati 02:56, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, I am going to bed for now, but please feel free to drop any questions you have here, on my talk, on the article talk, in hidden all caps text on the article, file an ANI report, etc. :-) Go Phightins! 03:08, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
- Well, I'm prepping to head to bed now as well, and doing some inspection, it looks fine, though it appears the length of the Michigan summary is rather long compared to the others. I'll make a more complete review tomorrow; hopefully the Nittany Lions don't have any more nail biters, or else I'd be slapping on {{Toolong}} all over it. ZappaOMati 04:16, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, well, the game had four overtimes, so I think that entitles its summary to be somewhat longer than the others, though perhaps the game deserves its own article ... first four overtime game in Penn State's 100+ year football history. Go Phightins! 10:51, 13 October 2013 (UTC)

Help out with Health issues in American football?
Hey ZappaOMati, I recently posted a few improvements that I think could be made to the Health issues in American football article on the Talk page there. I'm working alongside my colleague, User:WWB Too, and on behalf of the NFL Players Association to improve football-related articles on Wikipedia. Because of my financial COI, I won't make any edits myself, but would appreciate you taking a look at what I've proposed and, if it seems okay, move those changes over into the article. Thanks! Why would adding first names instead of surnames be considered disruptive editing?
About a month ago, I edited a few pages but kept on discovering that my edits were deleted and you kept on telling me to read WP:SURNAME. I read it, but felt a little bit dissatisfied with the article since some people who always go by their first names, stage names, or academic or honorific titles are always referred to on Wikipedia by their last names. It can't be that casual, so why not use a little bit of first names depending on whether or not that person prefers to go by their first name? Will you please tell me why? TheRocknRollPat (talk) 20:05, 27 October 2013 (UTC)RocksPatrick
- @TheRocknRollPat: This is an encyclopedia, and pages should be treated professionally, which includes referring to people by their last name, unless their stage names have a "surname" in them. Take Lady Gaga for example. Although her real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, most people refer to her as Lady Gaga, so the "surname" in it (Gaga) is used. For those with one-word stage names, like Jennifer Lopez (who uses J-Lo), we would still use Lopez. ZappaOMati 20:14, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

Talking about Beyoncé
Beyoncé goes by her first almost all the time so why not use her first name? TheRocknRollPat (talk) 04:17, 28 October 2013 (UTC)TheRocknRollPat
- @TheRocknRollPat: Except she also has the stage name "Beyoncé Knowles", which has a "surname" in it (Knowles), so we would use Knowles when talking about her. ZappaOMati 13:25, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
What is your full name?
My full name is Nicholas Patrick Hazard, Jr. and I have one little question. Since you discovered me via my talk page, I discovered you as ZappaOMati, or Zappa for short. On your talk page, you say that your real name is Justin. Can you please tell me your full name? TheRocknRollPat (talk) 19:00, 3 November 2013 (UTC)TheRocknRollPat
- Yes, my real name is Justin, though I don't really want to give out my real name. I used to give out my full name on the infobox on my userpage, but it was redacted, since it's not really the best of ideas to give out personal info, especially since I'm still in school. Sorry, but I suppose you can make assumptions about my last name based on my ethnicity (Vietnamese). Besides, if you really want to know my real name, just go to my Facebook or Twitter. ZappaOMati 19:04, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
Maybe this was all my fault. I shouldn't have given out my full name since I'm still in school too. Sorry about that. TheRocknRollPat (talk) 22:37, 15 November 2013 (UTC)TheRocknRollPat (talk) 16:37, 15 November 2013 (UTC)TheRocknRollPat
Krista
I thought my post was quite reasonable. I pointed out an idiosyncrasy of Krista's statement but I also defended that part of what she said that was a reasonable opinion. I have no problem separating what is good and what is bad from a person and thought she deserved some credit where it was not given to her, while also pointing out it was highly ironic to opine about a woman's attire for it's provocativeness when she has dressed that way herself. She did nonetheless make a point that made sense and was unfairly attacked by a reporter.
I do not mean to be disruptive so I would love to chat to clarify this matter if you have time.
Thanks, Horkheimer86 Nov, 7, 2013,
Horkheimer86 (talk) 00:02, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, it is pretty hypocritical to dress provocatively, and then attack it afterwards, but the information doesn't really belong on the page in particular. You may have stayed neutral by pointing out both sides, but looking at WP:COATRACK, the page should be about Ford, not about any irony in her comments. Besides, she barely even played a season in lingerie. ZappaOMati 00:10, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
You have been very reasonable to me, and I apologize for any inconvenience. I guess people have to reason out these things for themselves you are saying and I understand that to some extent. Although any playing in lingerie still qualifies, even if it is less than a full season in all fairness, and I do mean to be polite. The other comment was in defense of her too though, where she is attacked for suggesting women should defend themselves and Toronto's police force do have a record of disrespecting some rape victims so I thought it was fair to acknowledge that this reflects the sexism going on with the boys in blue there. Perhaps that deserves its own section under the Toronto Police Force referring to treatment of the subject of rape, which is quite problematic. I thought her whore comment was ironic to which you agreed but saw her making a reasonable point about self-defense with mace that got unfairly attacked because she's an easy person to lambaste for saying other ridiculous things. All in all I find your response very friendly so I hope you don't hold that edit against me. You have been very cordial and thank you for that. All the best, Horkheimer86

How can I be unblocked from Wikipedia? If I kept on editing disruptively, then I would be blocked. How can I unblock myself? TheRocknRollPat (talk) 01:15, 9 November 2013 (UTC)TheRocknRollPat

In the Unblock template, if you can convince an administrator to unblock you, you may be unblocked. ZappaOMati 01:25, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

The E-bully of Wikipedia
Hello -- sorry if I don't know where else to put this, so, I'll just put it here, if that's okay. I happened to noticed your posting in regards to me, and I wanted to let you know that that person you mentioned me to has a 2-plus year history of abusing this system to intimidate several users. And he's lied several time in the past, and today is no exception. But it's more than that - on weekends. he stalks the place in waiting, in the hope that he catches people in the MIDDLE of an edit, one in which we have evey intention of getting right, but when we don't complete it in 10 seconds, he steps in to mess with it and goes running to the Wikipedia principal to tattle. Fact is there's probably a lot about him that you aren't aware of. There are 2 sides to the story, and you've mainly just gotten the one from him in which he either highly stretched the truth or flat out lied, to you and several others. I'm sorry if you got caught in the middle. Hopefully this kind of thing will stop, but with his type (because I've had the misfortune of knowing his type in real life), it's unlikely to stop. But please keep in mind, even THE most active golf editor in all of Wikipedia (who I won't name, as it would be unfair to him) has never had a problem, he's left me alone and never gotten on my case. Only this one guy has, because he likes to play internet tough guy and thinks he's a lot more important than he is, and doesn't allow for temporary, easily repairable mistake by anyone, for whatever reasons that only a warped mind like his could possibly understand. If that person Bushranger would like to intervene and take the statements of several other good users who he has tried to cowardly e-intimidate, then it shall be so. Thank you
He also tried to claim that I falsely accused him of lying. This is pitiful, and yet predictable - every liar always says they are falsely accused of lying. He has lied on SEVERAL occasions about users, today is not the first. .. Fact is he falsely accuses me of making an inexcusable edit when in fact I went to edit the wrong page by mistake -- but instead of trying to find out what happened, he did what an opportunistic bully like him does and used it as a means to lie and say it was malicious. Please don't fall for his BS. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnsmith2116 (talk • contribs)
There's something else to keep in mind -- as with all people with social problems, he lets things linger and carry over and use it as an excuse a long time down the road - he remembers from a few months ago how I didn't let him intimidate me THEN, and now he is still trying to do it, so, since he's realized that after 2 months I'm STILL not allowing him to intimidate me, he can't stand it, and he lashes out. He's going to be embarrased at that other page -- the admins are going to see through his BS and realize that for the first time, this is someone who's standing up to him. He's not tough. Stadium Super Trucks images
I uploaded the whole field from Round 10 at Crandon to Commons [8]. I don't have any more images of the drivers. I went to several major events for the past year besides this SST event. I saw the TORC races that same day and lots of LOORS racers were there too. You know about the Nationwide and ARCA race at Road America. I also saw the SCCA National Championship Runoffs for the last 5 seasons at Road America. On dirt, I caught the USAC Midgets at Angell Park Speedway and the US Dirt Nationals for the legends cars at Beaver Dam Raceway. Two big asphalt late model races that I saw attracted lots of top Midwestern Late Model / Super Late Models drivers - National Short Track Championship at Rockford Speedway and the friday night Dick Trickle 99 at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway during the Oktoberfest race weekend. No ARCA Midwest Tour races like I did for the last few seasons. No flat track motorcycle races this year either. So please leave a message on my talk page if you think I may have an image that you need for an article for an off-road, sports car, ARCA, or Midwestern late model driver. Merry Christmas to you too! Yeah my Fins aren't doing to great at 8-7, but hopefully we can take care of our business against the Jets, and hopefully the Ravens can just lose. Good luck to your Bears next week against the Pack, and good luck having Santa not bring an unwanted visitor to that game, as a belated Christmas present to Green Bay. A reference problem
Hi! Some users have been working hard on Category:Pages with broken reference names.
Here you added a new reference <ref name="Bears-Ravens SB Nation" /> but didn't define it. This has been showing as an error at the bottom of the article. "Cite error: The named reference REFNAME
was invoked but never defined (see the help page)." Can you take a look and work out what you were trying to do? Thanks -- Frze > talk 09:28, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

- @Kingryan227: Terribly sorry for the late reply, but I assume we only list them as free agents once free agency (March 13?) starts. ZappaOMati 23:44, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Typo on Mike Zimmer page
Under Personal for Mike Zimmer, for his son Adam it says "Cincinati" instead of "Cincinnati"
Also, in looking at other coaches Wikipedia pages, it looks like the box heading of "Career Information" should actually say "College" or "College Information" and "Position(s)" shouldn't say "Head Coach" but rather the Position(s) he played while in college, namely "Quarterback, Linebacker"

Help with article on Concussions in American football?
Hey Zappa, I recently posted some improvements that I think could be made to the article Concussions in American football over on the Talk page there, but as yet, it doesn't look like anyone has had a chance to review them. If you have time, do you think you could take a look and see what you think? Because I'm working on behalf of the NFLPA, I won't make any edits myself, but since you've edited the article before, I thought you might have comments or, if everything looks okay, be willing to implement the changes that I've suggested. Cheers! ChrisPond (Talk · COI) 15:41, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

Shouldn't Brandon Browner and Spencer Ware be listed under this template? Or is there some sort of ground rule regarding suspended players that I never picked up on? By the way, I'm a Seahawk fan. Just thought I'd share that part. – Michael (talk) 06:23, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
- Not quite sure on this one either; when I created last year's template, I excluded the players on the reserve lists, since they wouldn't be active for the game. The same may apply to the players on the inactive list, but I'm not too sure. ZappaOMati 14:55, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Super Bowl template
I think you may have skipped a row or something judging by the number of pages you added the template to. Toomer is one guy without the template.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 07:37, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
- Probably; I guess I was still caught up in the madness and missed a few guys or so, since it was kind of a "rough" template. But then again, I don't quite recall Toomer's name in it in the first place; I copied the names from the team's roster navbox, which sometimes can be less-frequently updated than its table counterpart. ZappaOMati 14:53, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
- So are you going to figure out which ones you skipped?--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 21:34, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

IRC
Hi, several people from the baseball Wikiproject are getting together after Wizardman's sudden retirement to figure out a better way to organize the Wikiproject. One of the ideas we came up with is having our own IRC channel to help each other, as well as new users with collaboration and content. If you need help connecting to IRC join #wikipedia-coffeehouse connect. The IRC channel for Wikiproject Baseball is #wiki-baseball connect. This also expands to the NFL Wikiproject. I am sorry for trying to post a picture i was not supposed to post on Pitch invasion. I just wanted to add a cool picture to the famous pitch invasions of the Iron Bowl. I thought posting pictures would be easy. Tylkrby767 — Preceding undated comment added 17:43, 22 March 2014 (UTC) (talk)
- @Tylkrby767: It's all right. It happens to all of us, including me. If you really want to post an image, I would prefer you read the image use policy to get yourself comfortable with uploading images on Wikipedia. ZappaOMati 20:40, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
Sorry one more thing if i take a picture of something myself, and not take it off the internet. Will i still have to do a lot of that upload wizard info. but if i still take the picture by myself will i need to do a little of the upload wizard info. Or since they know i took the photo will they just make me right the caption and i can upload it. I just want to know how different it would be if i took the photo and tried to upload it, or i get it off the internet and try to upload it. I would just want to know the upload process difference between the two. (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 22:40, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
- @Tylkrby767: If you do upload an image again, you'd still have to go through the Upload Wizard, but use the free usage criterion if you took the photo yourself, like the public domain, if you want others to use it as well. If you're uploading a copyrighted logo, like a logo, you need to place the copyright license, as the image is a copyrighted image. If my explanation is a little too confusing, the page at WP:UPI explains it in more detail. ZappaOMati 23:32, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
Do you think you could help me set up an info box and a little how to site ref tags. Tylkrby767 (talk)
- @Tylkrby767: No problem. To set up an infobox, you look for the appropriate one at Wikipedia:List of infoboxes, and look at its documentation (the green instructions below the example), and fill the box with the information at the top of the page you're trying to add it to.
- To cite references, after finding a reliable source, you can add it to the aricle using <ref></ref> tags. If you need more clearing up on it, you can look at WP:REF for more info. ZappaOMati 14:00, 28 March 2014 (UTC)

vandalism is a scary word
Thanks. The back story: the bears page showed up in a search that was completey unrelated to them or for that matter sports. Along the same time I have been having a lot of fun debating how terrifying alligator-chinchillas would be. As such it seemed only natural to include the humor where it might get some appreciation. And you know a bear wouldn't want any part of that much fur and teeth. As a result though the teams eyes and ears would surely have a new underscored motivation. Hence the reasoning to recognize coaching. My apologize, I sometimes forget worlds have little foundation and rock easily. Best regards, Greg.
PS. I think my original search was for fictional intel on chicks from Venus. Kinda far off finding football references. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Goverdose (talk • contribs) 20:09, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

L.A. events on June 21 and July 6
Upcoming L.A. events: Unforgetting L.A. edit-a-thon (Saturday, June 21, 12-5pm) and Wiknic (Sunday, July 6, ~9:30am-4pm) |
---|
Dear fellow Wikipedian, The L.A. Wikipedia community has two exciting events coming up in the next few weeks: an edit-a-thon sponsored by the online magazine East of Borneo, and the fourth annual Los Angeles Wiknic! The East of Borneo event is an edit-a-thon that aims to build a better history of art in Southern California. This next chapter of their Unforgetting L.A. series will take place on Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 12pm to 5pm at 356 S. Mission Rd. (map). Beginners welcome! Please RSVP here if you plan to attend. For more info, see eastofborneo.org/unforgetting. The Wiknic is a part of the nationwide Great American Wiknic. We'll be grilling, getting to know each other better, and building the L.A. Wikipedia community! The event is tentatively planned for Pan-Pacific Park (map) and will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 9:30am to 4pm or so. Please RSVP and volunteer to bring food or drinks if possible! I hope to see you there! Cheta Ozougwu
Hey I just cleaned up Cheta Ozougwu's page with a summary from the bears website. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by RiceFootball1988 (talk • contribs) 18:52, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
- @RiceFootball1988: There's a difference between cleaning up and flat-out removing sourced content. Your edit seemed to be leaning towards the latter. Zappa24Mati 19:03, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
Just summarizing, to remove redundancy, not trying to offend. thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by RiceFootball1988 (talk • contribs) 01:20, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- @RiceFootball1988: I understand. I'll let your edit stay this time; also, it'd be appreciated if you were to add an edit summary to your edits, so users will know the intention of your edits and not revert them thinking you're vandalizing the page. Zappa24Mati 01:45, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
NASCAR Sprint Cup
Hello -- I was wondering, on weekends, isn't it standard to un-hide the race box on the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup page for the next race, to be able to show the pole winner? Johnsmith2116 (talk) 20:27, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Johnsmith2116: It's standard, but I usually unhide the race box once a driver wins the pole, since instead of a row of empty cells, we actually have some information inside it. Zappa24Mati 22:02, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
- I've repeatedly told him that, and others have echoed those thoughts (but not that specifically). For some reason, he won't listen to anyone. United States Man (talk) 00:14, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
Johnny Manziel
Fuck you I didn't vandalize Johnny Manziels page dumbass! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spartandies (talk • contribs)
- Alright, so it turns out he was drafted by the Globetrotters after all. However, there are many issues regarding your edit:
- You did not provide a reliable source. All living persons require all sentences to be reliably sourced. Your edit was not sourced at all.
- The prose you wrote makes it easy to be questioned as possible vandalism: Calling a person by his nickname instead of his surname is not an encyclopedic way to write.
- Such mentions in the lead are not notable. Like when he was drafted in the MLB Draft, such mentions should go elsewhere, not the lead.
- Also, calling me a dumbass and saying "fuck you" is considered a personal attack, and should be avoided to keep this environment a friendly place. Zappa24Mati 00:21, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
