[edit]Opuntia humifasa provides traditional medicine uses in the cultures of Indian, American, Mexican, and Korean cultures[1]. The stem of opuntia humifas produces and extrac that is high in concentration of Polyphenois[2] and flavonoids[3]. The stem extrac has been used for diabetes, inflammation and rheumatoid arthritis treatments[4]. It has also been found that opuntia humifasa has been associated with endophytic fungal community.[5] Showing some antifungal compounds with in the native cactus Opuntia humifas that is found in the United states.[6]
