Well, this is a list of things for you to do if really want to make me angry. While I usually try to be friendly and really don't like to argue with people about something that is not really that important, I also care for the quality of the articles I edit - most of them are related to Tokyo Mew Mew. Let me say, they are getting vandalized a lot. It becomes even more annoying if the same incorrect info appears in the articles again and again. Do people pay attention to the edits that have been reverted before?
"Reborn" → "Ribbon"
[edit]This one doesn't happen that often now, as the correct translation is confirmed by a reliable source, but still... how much time was spent on this little thing? And it just because of fans who didn't believe and couldn't even give a normal argument against it. And some even said they knew Japanese... no, don't even want to remember it.
And some questions to those who repeat stuff about "using Tokyopop names":
- What is "Sutoro Bell Bell"?
- What is "Mintoon Alo"?
- Which version of Zakuro's attack translation we are supposed to use?
Now, let me make it clear. "Ribbon" is an obvious mistranslation. It is not just an alteration of the word, as in case of "Fantasia"/"Fantastica" in the English translation of one of my favorite novels. It completely changes the meaning of the word. Come on, people! Do we have to go this far with the "English name usage"? Do we have to keep the incorrect info just because Tokyopop, known for making stupid translation errors, decided to screw up the attack translations?
And let me make it even more clear. リボーン is "reborn". "Ribbon" is リボン. There is no enough evidence to say that it was a pun. Unless it is said somewhere in the original manga that リボーン was intended to be just an alteration of リボン, we have all rights to say that Tokyopop and fansubbers made a error. Learn to admit it when you are mistaken, and don't speak alone for the "vast majority of fans".
蒼 → 青, 碧 → 緑, and even 藍 → 愛
[edit]While I can understand the first two changes (it can't be helped if one have never seen the original manga or anime), since when is Mint's last name has the kanji for "love"? She's not Minako Aino! And one can at least read the note about the Mews' names having kanji for colors...
12-13 → 11
[edit]Yep, Ichigo's age. No, I don't care what Tokyopop wrote: a little analysis will show you that her age does not match her grade. (And - does she even look like an 11-year-old? Her physical features would then look similar to Pudding!)
"Mickey" → "Miki"
[edit]The name is written in the manga as ミッキー Mikkī, which is "Mickey". "Miki" would be ミキ Miki. No, I don't care what Honobono fansubs say. And yes, Tokyopop translated the name correctly. They can't screw up everything... can they?..
"Chimera Anima" → "Chimera Animal", or even worse - "Chimera Anima" → "Kirema Anima"
[edit]Are you sure you know how to read katakana? As I said above, I don't care what is written in fansubs. If you simply do not understand what the word "anima" means - say so, I'll explain it to you. As for the second version... May I ask what the hell is "Kirema"???
"Mint" → "Minto", "Lettuce" → "Retasu", "Pudding" → "Purin", "Pie" → "Pai", "Kish" → "Kisshu", "Tart" → "Taruto"
[edit]Have you seen the hidden comments about "using Tokyopop names"? Yes, I do write the Mews' names in a similar way on my webpage (though I actually call Pudding "Bu-Ling"), but I do not do it on Wikipedia, because here one has to follow some rules.
"Masaya" → "Malaya"
[edit]Whoever writes this is a genius... (IP: 68.57.210.96)
190.10.0.64 aka the color-changing IP
[edit]For an unknown reason, this user kept on changing the colors of the TMM infoboxes, even after being blocked for 18 hours. We've already decided on the colors by the time I added the templates! They never explained why they're doing this, not answering the questions on the talk page. One of the stupidest forms of edit warring I've ever seen, almost deserves being included into WP:LAME.
