1. Is there a warning banner at the top of the article? No

Write a brief explanation of the reason the issues mentioned in the warning banner are important. For example, if the issue is “needs additional citations for verification,” why does that matter?

-The warning says that there are no sources cited which means that the information in that article may not be true and is most likely not the most reliable source.

2. Is the lead section of the article easy to understand? Does it summarize the key points of the article? yes, it describes the values of the Samoan culture and other little improtant details.

3. Is the structure of the article clear? “Are there several headings and subheadings, images and diagrams at appropriate places, and appendices and footnotes at the end?” -Yes, every section is labeled clearly and before you go into reading you know exactly what the section will be about.

4. Are “the various aspects of the topic balanced well”? That is does it seem to provide a comprehensive overview of the topic? -Yes, this article gives information from all different views of this culture. In each section, the audience can read the first two or three sentences and understand the section.

5. Does the article provide a “neutral point of view”? Does it read like an encyclopedia article instead of a persuasive essay? -It reads as though some has done there research and has attained reliable information. It does not seem bias as though someone from the Samoan culture wrote it.

6. Are the references and footnotes citing reliable sources? Do they point to scholarly and trustworthy information? Beware of references to blogs; look for references to books, scholarly journal articles, government sources, etc. -Yes, majority of the sources are from scholarly journals and from books written on the subject. There is also information from a museum. None of these sources are unreliable because they come from a trustworthy source.

7. Look for these signs of bad quality and comment on their presence or absence from the article you are evaluating:

a. is the lead section well-written, in clear, correct English? -Yes, even though there are words not of the English language they do a great job by describing the meanings.

b. are there “unsourced opinions” and/or “value statements which are not neutral”? -Yes, there is one section called Fa'aaloagloa however, the information in this section talks about a tradition so it seems reliable.

c. does the article refer “to ‘some,’ ‘many,’ or other unnamed groups of people,” instead of specific organizations or authors or facts? -No, when they refer to a certain group they often do so directly so there is no confusion.

d. does the article seem to omit aspects of the topic? -No, all the information given is straight forward they do not leave out anything about the sections that they discuss.

e. are some sections overly long compared to other sections of similar importance to the topic? -The longest section is religion however, it is understandable because religion contains a lot of information and it takes effort to describe it all.

f. does the article lack sufficient references or footnotes? -The only section that does not have a credible reference is the Fa'aaloagloa but other than that it is all sufficient.

g. Look at the “View History” for the article. As you read the conversation there, do you see hostile dialogue or other evidence of lack of respectful treatment among the editors? -No, the language is very kind and there are a lot of "thank yous". Everyone is appreciative of the help from others.

Relevance (to your research topic) -My research is on the Polynesian culture, Samoans are classified as Polynesians and my article focused on their culture

Depth -This article seems as though it was written for general adults because the language is not that difficult however it is very informative.

Information Format (I hope this one will be easy for you.) -Research Article

Object (what is the purpose for creating this article?) - To inform the public of the Samoan culture and their values.
