While a matter is at discussion at the Dispute resolution noticeboard, please follow these rules and guidelines to help reach consensus and resolve the dispute at the earliest.

Guidelines

[edit]
  • Always remain civil. Do not engage in personal attacks. Editors engaging in personal attacks despite being warned may be Blocked or sanctioned.[1]
  • Do not reply to the comments of others unless asked by the volunteer to do so. Threaded discussion at the article talk page did not help that's why you are here. Making changes to your statements to reply to a point raised by another editor is not encouraged but permitted if a major concern is raised.
  • Stop editing the article in dispute unless reverting obvious vandalism or copyvio.
  • Refrain from discussing the matter anywhere other than the Notice board. Any comments made at other places will not be considered.
  • Do not file a case at any other forum. The DRN case will be closed if any other ongoing case is found elsewhere.
  • Every editor is required to keep a watch at the DRN progress once every 48 hours and reply when asked to do so. It is recommended that you watchlist the page and have a look at least once a day. When not available for longer times, please mention it at the discussion so that the moderator and other participants are aware.
  • The DRN does not discuss the conduct of an editor. Such cases are best dealt at WP:ANI or other appropriate forums and a DRN case about conduct will be closed. If you have a doubt about the process, use the Noticeboard's talk page.
  • Do not contact the moderator anywhere except the noticeboard. Either on or off Wikipedia.
  • Remember that the volunteer has a personal life too and is here only to help you. Do not expect them to be omnipresent and respond to your queries immediately.

Remember

[edit]
  • Overly long statements only complicate matters and serve no purpose. Be short and concise.
  • Any references could be listed with the help of the {{reflist-talk}} template. This makes it easier to understand.
  • The dispute resolution notice board is only meant for moderated discussion about the content and not about the editors.
  • The moderator is only a volunteer and can not issue binding judgements. All suggestions are to be considered only as an advice. However, editors are requested to follow the resolution achieved at the DRN and avoid Forum shopping.
  • The volunteer has the authority to collapse uncivil comments and issue warnings to editors who do not behave properly at the DRN. In extreme cases, such an editor can be sanctioned/blocked by an administrator on the advise of a moderator after at least one warning has been given.[1]
