Online Dating Timeline

[edit]

What is online dating?

[edit]

Online dating is one of the various methods in which you can meet someone else. This person can be as close as a neighbor or as far as a stranger from across the country. Online dating quickly emerged around the 1960s. The evolving technology allowed users to take questionnaires that returned potential matches. This process has carried upon current dating sites. Online dating websites tend to build a profile containing a quantity of questions that will theoretically improve the type and number of matches.[1]

The theory of life – obtain an education, attain a job, and begin a family. Through the process, a percentage of the population has been or is interesting (interested) in dating someone significant.[2] According to Dating Sites Reviews, data varies upon dating site. Statistics demonstrates how within eHarmony itself the popular age range of participants with 40% is between 18 to 34. By the mid-1990s, the internet had a great spike. Online dating activated within chat rooms that people can join and meet others. In 1995, Match.com was founded raising user’s interest. Eventually, online dating sites advertised the most, making dating sites second highest industry for paid content.[3]

How does online dating work? Dating websites all tend to portray similar formats. When a user signups, the information is used to create a profile. Among signing up, the user builds upon their profile which will affect the type of results. These results are generated based on the information provided, the information is matched with other profiles with similar interest. This allows users to meet others based on their personal interests.[4]

Successful Online Dating Stories

[edit]

I'm not sure if the online dating stories are a good idea to include in your Wikipedia article because they are not really telling the reader anything about online dating. Also it is hard to verify if theses stories are truly successful because who really knows if theses people are still together. I do like the information about how people can meet through different dating sites that are similar to their common interests. Maybe create a new sub-heading that describes the different types of dating sites.

As reported in Statics Brain, in the United States one fifth of the population has tried online dating. (Maybe include some statistics about online dating) The following couples met online and have shared their successful experiences.

In “New Dating Site Helps College Students Find Love”, Stephanie Steinberg narrates the thriving story of a couple who met online. Andy Lalinde and Michelle Przybyski are two ordinary college students who did not have enough time to go out and meet someone special. Andy had visited different online dating websites when he suddenly found a match, Michelle. These two individuals did not know about each other although they lived a couple of blocks apart from each other. Andy and Michelle found each other on Datemyschool.com which effectively match (matched) them. After a casual day long date, Andy and Michelle decide to get married within a week, as they describe it, “I think when you know, you know,” Michelle said.[5]

When joining any online dating website, everyone’s intentions are different. Despite the various interest, suddenly you may encounter a path that suits you. Andy and Michelle demonstrate a way in which they both were looking (at) a relationship. However, this may not be the same situation for everyone. The following couple was not looking for anything serious but the connections built upon their friendship launched a spark.

In “4 Couple Share Their Online Dating Success Stories”, Molly Oswaks describes the initial interactions between Matt and Hannah. Hannah was not very active on her online dating profile and initially not looking for anything serious. As Matt and Hannah build upon their friendship, their intentions amongst each other changed. The regular hanging out suddenly impacted their relationship. Matt and Hannah began dating, and within five months, he proposed.

Online dating is successful but it may not be the same case scenario for everyone. These stories demonstrated the occasional effectiveness. Whether your intentions are clear, there are various of possibilities from friendships, future co-workers, marriage, etc. Everyone may have different intentions but it is important to be open minded of the opportunities out there. Sometimes getting out of your own comfort zone may allow you.[6] (Good! Keep this paragraph but maybe reword this last sentence)

Dating Aspects

[edit]

Is it safe?

[edit]

Online dating builds connections among compatible people based on their online profile. College students particularly are inclined to join online dating websites. In certain situations, it is possible that some of these students are not well educated on how to safely use these websites. Online dating exposes college students making them vulnerable in the cyber world. Despite the unfavorable experiences, people who are well informed may find their significant other. The online dating website generated a helpful benefit for these individual. [7]Their marriage has proven that online dating can lead to positive outcomes. Online dating infers a broad range of impressions, if you are mindful of the environment. Online dating initiates thru the interest of meeting another significant which ultimately should lead into a healthy relationship. The usage of internet has transformed in a range of manners some in which are leading to spam accounts in these websites. Therefore, it is important to understand the negative consequences that impact college student to enlarge their knowledge. [8]

Overall your Wikipedia article is good, but you are missing your internal links to 8 other Wikipedia pages. I would also make the few grammatical corrections that are bolded above and think about removing the successful dating stories and making a new sub-header about the different types of dating sites and how they can help people to find more specific matches. The sources you used were good, but for source 5 it is hard to verify if the stories provided in the article still hold true.

Online dating and the different perspectives vary.
