My name's Xan ✨ and I'm on the en wikipedia and wikimedia commons.

About

Avid internet user and probable Wikipedia contributor. Has a website that's kept up to date with the latest and greatest information about them. Likes adding more info to articles about interests like software and making adjustments to sentences grammar & punctuation (this sentence probably messed up both of those).

Notes

Curious as to why there seems to be no userboxes about liking indie pop or alternative rock music genres or artists. I might figure out how to make some or another contributor could.
I really like how Wikipedia is so customizable, enjoyed reading some Wikipedia Essays, and understand why it makes it harder for Tor users to contribute in some scenarios.
Messed around in the settings to enable the Vector '22 theme and HotCat + dark mode toggle + Justify paragraphs + Twinkle gadgets; all of which are pretty cool.
My last user page was deleted because of U5. A non-contributor's misuse of Wikipedia as a web host. Hopefully this iteration closely relates to Wikipedia's goals more so than previously.

Freedom of speech and profanity

Sometimes the question is posed whether Wikipedia allows freedom of speech regarding profanity. Our primary goal is to build an encyclopedia. Freedom of expression is valued, but only to the extent that it does not get in the way of that goal. Including information about offensive material is part of Wikipedia's encyclopedic mission; being offensive is not. We have many articles about profane and sexual subjects‍—‌prick, fuck, shit, fart, and so on. Although Wikipedia is not censored, if you were to put profanities on discussion pages, a quick ban might follow. This is especially true for usernames because these show up in many places where people do not want to be bothered by profanity. Repeated off-topic comments on article talk pages also might constitute a breach of policy.
