Notes

[edit]

There are numerous minor inconsistencies in transliteration among the sources. Greater discrepancies are as follows:

  1. ^ Kabir dates Jago Hua Savera (The Day Shall Dawn) to 1960, but Gazdar, Hayat,[6] and Raju[7] date it to 1959, and it won a medal in Moscow in August 1959.
  2. ^ Gazdar gives the name of Mohiuddin's 1961 film as Yuumaar Amaar, but Kabir writes Tomar Amar, which corresponds with Shikdar.[11]
  3. ^ Although Gazdar lists Azaan as a Bengali film made in East Pakistan in 1962, neither Kabir nor Shikdar include it or the director.
  4. ^ Neither Kabir nor Gazdar mention Sharafi, but present-day news articles credit him as co-director.
  5. ^ Gazdar dates the film he transliterates as Suraj Ashnan to 1961, but Kabir, Raju,[14] and Shikdar,[15] date it to 1962.
  6. ^ Kabir dates Talash to 1964, but Gazdar, Hoek,[17] and Shikdar,[18] date it to 1963.
  7. ^ Although Gazdar lists Bandhan as an Urdu film made in East Pakistan in 1964, neither Kabir nor Shikdar include it.
  8. ^ Gazdar dates Ekaler Rupkatha to 1965, but Kabir and Shikdar[23] date it to 1964.
  9. ^ Gazdar and Hayat[6] date Kancher Deyal to 1963, but Kabir, Raju,[24] and Shikdar,[25] date it to 1964.
  10. ^ Gazdar dates Ujala to 1966, but Kabir and Shikdar[30] date it to 1965.
  11. ^ Gazdar names Bashir Ahmad as the director of 13 Feku Ostagar Lane, but Kabir credits "Bashir Hossain", which corresponds with the Bangladesh Film Archive.[32]
  12. ^ Gazdar dates Aakhri Station to 1965, but Kabir, Raju,[34] and Shikdar,[35] date it to 1966.
  13. ^ Gazdar says Dak Babu was a Bengali-language film, but Kabir writes that it was in Urdu.
  14. ^ Although Gazdar doesn't list Ghar Ki Laaj as a film made in East Pakistan, Kabir and Shikdar do.[39]
  15. ^ Gazdar names F. Rahman as the director of Gunai, but Kabir credits "Bazlur Rahman", which corresponds with Shikdar.[40]
  16. ^ Gazdar dates Is Dharti Par to 1967, but Kabir and Shikdar date it to 1966.[42] Shikdar names Fakhrul Alam as the director, but Gazdar and Kabir credit Nurul Alam.
  17. ^ Kabir dates what he transliterates as Perwana to 1968, but Gazdar and Shikdar[44] date Parawna to 1966.
  18. ^ Gazdar and Kabir date Zarina Sundari to 1966, but Shikdar doesn't list it.
