Tony Myles Born - Anthony Thomas MYLES on January 11, 1943. His mother was a resident of the Isle of Man and his father was a sergeant in the British Army. His parents met was his father was convalescing in Douglas having suffered a chest injury due to shrapnel. At the end of the war his parents moved to Airdrie in Scotland and as a result his health suffered leaving him with a chest weakness that would lead to asthma. As his breathing difficulties persisted and as the family grew he was relocated back to his grandmother's home in the Isle of Man which is where he spent much of his childhood years.
This period would lead to some isolation from his many siblings which he would later regret.
It also gave him a wider view of life than many of his peers.
Just after his twelfth birthday he returned to Scotland and was educated at St Patrick's High School in Coatbridge and excelled in English language studies.
