Joseph Atwood was a circuit rider in the Methodist Episcopal Church.

Atwood was born in the United States in the 1780s.[1]

Atwood was accepted on trial as a circuit rider in 1822 by the Genesee circuit.[2] In 1823, he was assigned to the Smith's Creek circuit, where he rode alongside Samuel Belton.[1] The pair oversaw an increase in church membership of 31.[3]
