Dinerware, Inc. is a privately held developer of restaurant point-of-sale software and is based in Seattle, Washington. Dinerware is also the name of the software product produced by Dinerware, Inc. Dinerware runs on touchscreen computers, and allows servers to place orders into the system and managers to change the menu (and other "back of the house" settings.) Dinerware is predominantly used in the U.S., though it has presence in the UK, Africa, Australia, and Southest Asia.
Company History
[edit]Dinerware was founded in 1999 by Carl English, a former Microsoft Executive, and Seattle restaurateur. English graduated from Harvard University where he created his own degree: Electronic Art. After working at Microsoft for seven years, English opened a restaurant and wine bar called the Kismet. English developed Dinerware in response to the Kismet's need for a Point-of-Sale system.
Software Architecture
[edit]Dinerware is designed to run with Microsoft SQL server, which provides live access to off the shelf software tools such as Microsoft Excel. Dinerware is also built on the .NET framework and is designed to run on modern the modern Microsoft operating systems Windows 2000 and XP. Utilizing an open architecture, Dinerware encourages third party software compatibility, and has many modules available to provide services such as property management.
Corporate Structure
[edit]Dinerware's corporate offices are located in Seattle, Washington. While there is a NW Sales team that works out of the corporate office, Dinerware predominantly utilizes resellers to sell and service the product outside of the NW.
