Berlin – Tag & Nacht (Akronym: „BTN“ oder „BerlinTN“) ist eine deutsche Reality-Daily-Soap des Fernsehsenders RTL II. Die Sendung zeigt an verschiedenen Orten Berlins wohnende Personen im Teenager- bis Erwachsenenalter, die sich mit ihren alltäglichen Problemen auseinandersetzen. Die Handlung und ihre Figuren sind frei erfunden. Die Rollen sind überwiegend durch Laiendarsteller besetzt.

Berlin - Tag & Nacht (Acronym: "BTN" or "BerlinTN"; English: Berlin - Day & Night) is a German reality-Daily-Soap of the TV channel RTL II. The show depicts different teenagers and adults, living in different parts of Berlin, who deal with their daily problems. The plot and the characters are entirely fictional. The roles are mainly played by amateur actors.

Handlung

Die Handlung beschreibt die Geschehnisse in mehreren Wohngemeinschaften, einer bunt zusammengewürfelten WG bestehend aus sieben Personen mit Joe Möller als Hauptmieter, das Loft der MATRIX-Crew, der Jugend-WG (ehemals Bastis Wohnung) sowie einem Hausboot mit laufend wechselnder Besetzung. Die Konstellation der Bewohner der Handlungsorte variiert ständig. Zentrale Orte der Handlung sind außerdem die Arbeitsplätze der Charaktere: der Club MATRIX, der Friseursalon Schnitte, die Bar LA 14 (nun Kräsch), das Fitnessstudio Body Burn, eine Schule sowie eine Kfz-Werkstatt.

Plot

The plot describes the events in multiple shared apartments, a mixed shared apartment, consisting of 7 people with Joe Möller as the main tenant, the Loft of the MATRIX-Crew, the youth-shared flat (previously the apartment of Baste), as well as a Houseboat with a continually changing cast. The configuration of the inhabitants of the locations vary constantly. Central locations of the plot are also the workplaces of the characters: the MATRIX club, the hair salon Schnitte (~cuts), the bar LA 14 (now Kräsch - Crash?), the gym/fitness studio Body Burn, a school, as well as a car repair shop.

Produktion

Vom Sender geplant waren zunächst 120 Episoden. Aufgrund des Erfolgs der Serie wurde sie allerdings auf unbestimmte Zeit weiter produziert. Zum Jubiläum der 1000. Episode am 26. August 2015 blendete RTL II das Serienlogo in Gold ein und fügte eine 1000 hinzu.

Stil

Die Serie simuliert durch eine absichtliche unruhige Handkameraführung einen gewissen Reportagestil. Zwischen einzelnen Szenen sind verschiedene Stadtteile, Sehenswürdigkeiten oder auch ganz normale, aber mit Musik untermalte Alltagsgeschehnisse von Berlin zu sehen. Im Unterschied zu Daily-Soap-Formaten wie beispielsweise Unter uns oder Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten kommt es zu vielfachem Einsatz von Voice-over Kommentaren sowie Interviews mit den Figuren, in denen diese Gefühlslagen zu bestimmten Ereignissen und Entwicklungen zum Ausdruck bringen. Ein weiteres Mittel, um Realität zu simulieren, ist die Kommunikation der Figuren mit dem Publikum über die Internetplattformen Facebook und Instagram.

Production

At first, the TV channel only planned 120 episodes. However, due to the success of the series, it continued to be produced indefinitely. For the anniversary of the 1,000st episode on 26th August 2015, RTL II changed the logo of the series to gold and added a 1,000.

Style

The series simulates through a purposely unsteady hand-held camera a certain documentary style. Between individual scenes, one can see different parts of the city, sights or also totally normal, but musically scored , everyday events of Berlin.In contrast to Daily-Soap-formats, such as ''Unter uns'' (Between us) or ''Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten'' (Good times, bad times), there is frequent use of voice-over commentary, as well as interviews with the characters, in which they express their emotional states towards certain events and developments. Another mode to simulate reality, is the communication of the characters with the audience via Internet platforms Facebook and Instagram.

Aktuelle Hauptfiguren

Joe Möller

Joe ist Besitzer und Oberhaupt der Haupt-WG. Er ist Vater und ebenfalls bereits Opa. Die anderen WG-Bewohner sehen in ihm oftmals einen Vaterersatz (Papa Joe). Er hat für seine Freunde immer ein offenes Ohr und Ratschläge parat. Er ist Teilhaber einer Werkstatt. Joe ist außerdem leidenschaftlicher Motorradliebhaber, Fan der Musikgruppe ACDC und liebt das raue Leben als Rocker, oftmals ist er deshalb in Siggis Kneipe anzutreffen. Er war mit Peggy und Paula verheiratet. Er hat ein Restaurant „Möllers Kitchen“ mit seinem Bruder.

Karsten „Krätze“ Rätze

Krätze ist sehr chaotisch und lebt in den Tag hinein. Über die Konsequenzen seiner Taten denkt er selten nach. Des Weiteren ist Krätze eine sehr eifersüchtige Persönlichkeit und akzeptiert neue Leute in der Clique erst nach längerer Zeit. Er ist mittlerweile Vater von Sohn Ben und, nach dem Ende seines Foodtrucks, Hausmeister in einer Schule.

Florian „Schmidti“ Hagemeier (geb. Schmidt)

Schmidti hat wohlhabende Eltern, die er kaum sieht. Die Bereitschaft zu arbeiten, um sich zu finanzieren, zieht sich schon durch Schmidtis ganzes Leben. Schmidti veranstaltet gerne Partys und versucht ein lockeres Leben zu führen, weiß aber, wann es an der Zeit ist, vernünftig zu sein. Er war als Taxifahrer und in einem Foodtruck tätig, betreibt nun das ehemalige LA 14 als Kräsch.

Peggy Möller geb. Heidmann

Die gelernte Kosmetikerin Peggy arbeitete lange Zeit mit Rick und Paula im Friseursalon "Die Schnitte". Ob im Job oder privat, Peggy liebte es einfach alles und alle chic zu machen - rosa war dabei ihre absolute Lieblingsfarbe! Peggy glaubte fest daran, dass in jedem Menschen das Gute herrscht. Umso enttäuschter ist sie, wenn sich ihre Einschätzungen als falsch erweisen.

Sebastian „Basti“ Heuer

Basti war der Geschäftsführer des Body Burn und dort für die Finanzen und das Personal zuständig. Er ist zwar tollpatschig, versucht aber immer den perfekten Durchblick zu haben, was ihm allerdings nicht immer gelingt. Dennoch hat er das Herz am rechten Fleck und versucht immer für seine Freunde da zu sein. Basti ist der Patenonkel von Kim und zudem der Ex-Mann von Paula und Mandy. Als Quereinsteiger arbeitet er nun als Lehrer.

Piet Berger

Piet war Besitzer des Body Burn und ist nun nach früheren Geschäftsführerposten NightShift-Manager Nachtclubs Matrix. Er ist ein harter, erfolgreicher Geschäftsmann, sehr selbstbewusst und durchsetzungsstark, macht sich mit seiner zynischen und abwertenden Art aber nicht immer neue Freunde. Er ist ein Sprücheklopfer.

Joe Möller

Joe is the owner and head of the main flat share. He is a father, as well as already a grandfather. The other flatmates often see him as a father figure (Papa Joe). He is always open to listen to his friends and give them advice. He is part owner of a repair shop. Furthermore, Joe is a passionate motorcycle enthusiast, a fan of the band ACDC and loves the rough life of a rocker, which is why he can often be found in Siggi's pub. He was married to Peggy and Paula. He has a Restaurant "Möller's Kitchen" with his brother.

Karsten "Krätze" Rätze

Krätze is very chaotic and lives for the moment. He seldom thinks about the consequences of his actions. Furthermore, Krätze is a very jealous person and only accepts new people into the gang after a long time. By now, he is a father of his son Ben, and after the end of his food truck business, he became a janitor at a school.

Florian "Schmidti" Hagemeier (née Schmidt)

Schmidti has wealthy parents which he hardly ever visits. His willingness to work, to support himself, runs through his whole life. Schmidti likes to throw parties and tries to lead a laid-back life. However, he knows when it is time to be sensible. He worked as a taxi driver and in a food truck, and now runs the former LA 14 as Kräsch.

Peggy Möller (née Heidmann)

Trained cosmetician, Peggy, worked for a long time with Rick and Paula in the hair salon "Die Schnitte" (The cuts). Whether at work or in private, Peggy simply loved to dress up everything and everyone - hereby, her favorite color was pink! Peggy firmly believed that there was good in everybody. That is why she is all the more disappointed when her assessments turn out to be wrong.

Sebastian "Basti" Heuer

Basti was the managing director of Body Burn and was responsible for finances and the staff. Although he is clumsy, he always tries to remain informed, which he does not always succeed in. Nevertheless, his heart is in the right place and he always tries to be there for his friends. Basti is Kim's godfather ad also Paula's and Mandy's ex-husband. He now works as a teacher as a career changer.

Piet Berger

Piet was the owner of Body Burn and is now, after previous management positions, NightShift-Manager of the MATRIX night club. He is a tough, successful businessman, he is very self-confident and assertive, however, with his cynical and derogatory manner, he does not always make new friends. He is a prattle-monger.
