Early life
[edit]Rose lived in foster care from the age of six. She has spoken openly about how she and her older brother Raymond were physically abused by their stepfather, which led to them being taken into the care system. At the age of eight, she was placed with two nuns, from the Dominican order, which became a long-term foster placement. She lived with them until the age of 19, maintaining some contact with her mother until she died when Rose was 12.[1]
Career
[edit]Parts in commercials and music videos led to small parts in films and eventually to Rose landing the lead role in the 2015 independent film All About E[2], where she played E, a lesbian DJ who has to flee Sydney with best friend Matt after she discovers a bag of cash and is hotly pursued by gangsters who want it back. [3]
The success of that film helped Rose make connections in Los Angeles, where she relocated to in 2016.[4] Once in California, she picked up more work, including lead roles in the made-for-television film For the Love of Jessee – a rare hetrosexual character in her resume – and the indie film Forever Not Maybe. But where she is seen most often is playing lesbian characters in web series, of which she has appeared in more than 10, including Emmy Award-winning Venice the Series.[5]
In 2024 she starred in a short called The Paradise Road, for which she was awarded Best Actress at The Hollywood International Diversity Film Festival. [6]
Rose also has credits for work behind the camera, usually as a production assistant or 1st assistant camera, but also as assistant director and other technical roles. [5]
She also creates, and sells, abstract art.[7]
