The Mahoning river is susceptible to frequent flooding during high rain events. One such event started when 3 days of torrential rain fell in July 2003[1] which caused the river to change its course in Leavittsburg, Ohio destroying almost a hundred homes.

Here is a pictorial of some of the flooded areas.
