"Borriquito" (meaning donkey in Spanish) is an 1971 international hit by the singer Peret who also wrote the music and lyrics of the song. Coinciding with a big boom in tourism in Spain, it became a big summer hit in all Hispanic countries including Spain, Mexico and all of Latin America. It also was tremendously popular in Continental Europe appearing on a number of European singles charts, notably in the Dutch charts where it stayed at number 1 for seven weeks and in Germany where it was number 1 for two weeks.

Encouraged by the commercial success of the song, Peret released "Voy voy" also in 1971 which charted in the Durtch Top 40 reaching number 27. These hits were a prelude in Peret representing Spain in 1974 Eurovision Song Contest with "Canta y sé feliz" coming ninth.

"Borriquito" has had countless cover versions and has been adapted to many languages.
