"Who the F**k Is Justin Bieber" is a 2013 single by Charleston Clubbers, their first release under the name. It is an instrumental track, but contains the catch phrase "Who the fuck is Justin Bieber?" from Ozzy Osbourne, thus the title of the single.
The single was released on 12 June 2013 on YeahYeah, the record label's first charting single and was distributed through an agreement with Warner Music. Although the single uses the "fuck" comment uncensored, the cover of the official release displays the censored "f**k".
Context
[edit]The single samples the quotation by Ozzy Osbourne who appeared on Fuse television channel's show A Different Spin in 2010 and made that comment. The artist Mark Hoppus, the host of the show, was asking what music Osbourne listens to. Osbourne initially replied: "I don't listen to new metal bands... If you ask me, give me the top ten of the good new metal bands... One of the dangers of that is, if you start to like it... If something gets into my head, it will come out my mouth you know...", to which Hoppus said: "So you listen to a lot of Justin Bieber?" Osbourne replied "Who?" and Hoppus repeated "Justin Bieber", to which Osbourne responded: "Who the fuck is Justin Bieber?" Hoppus commented back: "I like that answer. That's perfect".[1]
The following year, Bieber and Osbourne appeared together in a TV advertisement for Best Buy premiering on February 6, 2011 during the Super Bowl where Osbourne repeats a variation of his now-famous quote. Bieber is seen saying "It's Bieber 6G fever" besting Ozzy's 4G claims on Best Buy. "What's a 6G?" Sharon Osbourne asks. "What's a Bieber?" Ozzy replies. Then Bieber, with facial hair and disguised as a crew member, reappears and says, "I don't know, but it kind of looks like a girl".[2]
On June 12, 2013, Charlestone Clubbers released their dance single "Who the F**k Is Justin Bieber". The single features Ozzy Osbourne again with his quote.[3] The single released on Warner Music initially in the Scandinavian countries entered the Tracklisten, the official Danish Singles chart on week 24/2013 dated June 21, 2013.[4]
Reception
[edit]Music critics have resembled the sampling to the hit "We No Speak Americano" by Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP.[5] with similar style of using the saxophone and bass.
Chart position
[edit]In its first week of released entered at number 31 on Tracklisten, the official Danish Singles Chart.
