Nick Nittoli is an American songwriter and producer of Italian-Trinidadian origin. In 2011 he took part in Platinum Hit, a songwriting competition on Bravo TV finishing 4th overall in 12 contestants.
Early life
[edit]Nittoli originates from Garfield, New Jersey.[1] He is the grandson of Alfred and Sharman Nittoli, writers of Frank Sinatra's "Here's to the Band".[2] Nick grew up in a musical household, listening to a wide range of music -- from Michael Jackson to doo-wop and hip hop to punk rock. Specializing in pop but a fan of all types of music, Nick's eclectic musical taste is reelected in his ability to write in variety of different genres. Nittoli is an experienced, self-taught guitarist and plays several other instruments, incoporating many organic elements in his pop productions.[1]
Platinum Hit
[edit]In 2011 Nick was on of 12 contestants on Bravo TV's Platinum Hit, a songwriting competition hosted by Jewel and judged by pop writer Kara DioGuardi and Sony A&R Keith Naftaly.[1][3] Nick placed 4th in the competition and was featured on every episode.[3] Nittoli describes his time on Platinum Hit as a musical bootcamp and applies many of the principles and lessons learned in his songwriting today.[4] The show also provided an opportunity to work with and learn from the likes of Ryan Tedder, Donna Summer, Rodney Jerkins, Natasha Bedingfield, Colbie Caillat, Leona Lewis, Gavin DeGraw, and Jermaine Dupri. Although the show highlighted Nick's lively, filter-free personality, it also displayed his ability to consistently work openly and collaboratively with other songwriters and producers.[5]
Trend Def
[edit]In 2013, Nittoli partnered with Trend Def, a West Hollywood based studio with a Sony Orchard distribution deal.[6][7] Since joining Trend Def, Nick has had several dozen songs released, including features by rappers like Snoop Dogg, YG and French Montana.[8]
