Maya Casabianca
[edit]Margalit Azran better known as Maya Casabianca (born in [[Casablanca, Morocco) is a French-Israeli singer of Jewish Moroccan origins.[1] She chose the pseudonym Casabianca in reference to her birthplace Casablanca. She immigrated to France in the 1950s where he attained fame with her ethnic-influenced interpretations in the early 1960s. She also gained fame in other European countries, Africa and the Middle East. She sang in a number of languages. A long love affair associated her with Syrian-Egyptian composer, singer Farid al-Atrash.
In the 1970s, as her fame diminished, she immigrated to Israel and resided in Haifa and continued her musical career in Israel, at times visiting France and other countries for concerts and television shows, particularly Pascal Sevran's TV show.
