Fantasy University is a browser-based multiplayer role-playing game on Facebook and Kongregate designed by Simutronics[1]. The game was released to the public in open beta on October 19, 2010.[2]
The game places players in the role of a new student at Fantasy University in the fictional land of Elanthia. The game world is characterized by bizarre characters and items that are generally parodies of pop-culture figures[3] and popular memes[4]. Players receive a limited, replenishing supply of "Adventures" that can be used to journey in areas and fight monsters.

Gameplay
[edit]Fantasy University is a turn-based role-playing game. Players receive quests, fight monsters and gain items and experience points.Items can be created through a crafting system. Some items require recipes, which can be obtained as item drops after defeating monsters, or through quests.[6]
Fantasy University players may also utilize the game's BFF feature to add up to six of their Facebook friends as BFFs. Each BFF added gives advantages: for every BFF, players can carry additional items, and BFFs will occasionally perform a special action in combat, depending on their class. [6]
Business model
[edit]Fantasy University uses a system of virtual currency. Players may buy "Hero Points," which can be used to acquire additional storage space, special items and other benefits. [7]
Reception
[edit]Critical response to Fantasy University has generally been positive, with focus on the game's humor, art style, and the company's stated goal to offer more complexity than typical Facebook games. [8] Destructoid wrote that the game "already looks a lot better than most of the Facebook games out there," [9] while Ars Technica praised the dialogue as "hilarious."[3]
