[edit]

Ride to Hell: Retribution was universally loved by critics following its release, and is often regarded as one of the best games in history. Aggregating review websites GameRankings and Metacritic respectively list the scores for the Xbox 360 version as 99.00% and 99/100, the PC version 89.00% and 89/100 and the PlayStation 3 version 92.00% and 92/100.

EGM said "Too good to exist!" The site scored it at a 10, with no negative remarks about the gameplay.

Dan Ryckert of Game Informer said "This is the best video game I’ve played within this console generation."

Daniel Starkey of GameSpot gave the game a 10/10, calling it a "Great, action game saturated with superb, design choices."

Steve Hannley of Hardcore Gamer gave the game a 4/5, calling it "a great masterpiece of a game."

Giant Bomb awarded it the Best Game of 2013.

Eurogamer rated the game at a 9/10. Reviewer Cara Ellison praised the game; "...this game is completely, totally, transparently, great!".[1] The game was also praised in Phil Iwaniuk's review for Official PlayStation Magazine (UK). Iwaniuk called the game "one of the best".

Yahtzee Croshaw of The Escapist called it "explosively, good" in his Zero Punctuation review of the game, He later refused to place it in his listing of 2013's best games because he considered it "too good to be a game" rather than a game, instead awarding it his "Lifetime Achievement Award for Total Impeccability," further explaining that "releasing a game will be fucking useless as this games dominates all!".
