Noam Gil
Noam Gil (born February 17, 1979) is an Israeli playwright and screenwriter.[1]
Gil was born in Kefar Saba in 1979.
His first play, Going Out (2007), was produced by Israeli National Theater, Habima after winning the first prize of Tzav Kria Festival in 2006.
Gil's second play, The Settler (2015) won the Best Play of the Year in the Israeli Fringe Awards.
His subsequent plays include A Suspicion Incident (2017), Pawns (2018), Lady A'mar (2018), all of which were staged and produced in Tmu-na Theater in Tel-Aviv, as well as two plays for Children, The Selfish Giant (2016, an adaptation of Oscar Wilde's short story, produced by Beersheba Theater) and Pirate Games (2015, produced by Kamea Dance Company).
Noam Gil's plays are mostly political satires that deal with characters in the midst of an unresolved identity crisis that echoes Israel's social and cultural circumstances.
Gil has been hailed as one of "the most entertaining, profound and unique writers to emerge " in Israeli drama (Eitan Bloom, Haaretz)[2] as well as "fresh, smart writer, with a stimulating original voice" (Shai Bar Yaakov, Yedioth Ahronoth)Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page)..
He has also written for TV shows such as "Ktsarim" as well as "The Saddest Sketch Show in the World".
Noam Gil holds a PhD. in Literature and is teaching creative writing at the department of English and American Studies at Tel Aviv University.
