Garrison Lane Lassiter (born Dec.22 1989) is a professional athlete.

High School (West Forsyth Clemmons NC)

Garrison Lassiter signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at the University of North Carolina in 2008. Garrison was the first commit in the 2008 class at UNC that also included LJ Hoes, Jason Knapp, Tim Melville, Derrik Gibson, Quinton Miller, Jacob Stallings. Garrison Lassiter was ranked the number 1 prospect in North Carolina by Baseball America in 2008. Garrison Lassiter was a top ranked shortstop in the US by Perfect Game and Sporting News in 2008. Garrison Lassiter was an Aflac All American (Game played Live on FSN at San Diego State University), Under Armour All American, Rawlings All-American and played for the 18u USA Olympic Team in the Pan American Games where he propelled the team with a .429 Average and 5 runs. Team USA won a Bronze medal in Ixtapa Mexico. A notable teammate of Lassiters on the 2007 18u Team USA roster was Eric Hosmer 1st round pick to the Kansas City Royals. Garrison Lassiter thought to be a top 2 round pick was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 27th round out of West Forsyth High School in Clemmons NC due to signability and his good academic standing with a scholarship to the University of North Carolina. He signed for 700,000k in 2008, equivalent to a top 65 pick.

In 2009 Garrison Lassiter had his jersey #4 retired at West Forsyth High School, the same High School as Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers. Their jerseys hang beside each others in the gym at West Forsyth High School in Clemmons NC.

Garrison Lassiter played Varsity Basketball as a Freshman and Sophomore at Ledford High School as a Shooting Guard. Lassiter averaged 15 PPG. Garrison Lassiter played Quarterback at Ledford High School as a Freshman and Sophomore.

Garrison Lassiter and Russel Wilson (Seattle Seahawks) were teammates at the East Coast Professional Showcase in 2006 for the Cleveland Indians. Lassiter played shortstop and Wilson played second base. Madison Bumgarner the 2014 Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year was also on the Cleveland Indians roster for the showcase.

College (University of Miami)

After being unconditionally released by the New York Yankees in 2012 Garrison Lassiter trained at IMG Academy with former NFL Quarterback and Heisman Trophy Winner from Florida State Chris Weinke and former NFL 1st Round Wide Receiver from Florida State Javon Walker. Chris Weinke was a professional baseball player for the Toronto Blue Jays Organization for six years. Javon Walker was a professional baseball player for the Florida Marlins Organization for three years. In 2013 Garrison Lassiter enrolled at the University of Miami and was added to the Miami Hurricanes football team as a walk on Quarterback. This route was similar to that of Brandon Weeden who was a walk on at Oklahoma State University and who was a 1st round draft pick to the Cleveland Browns. Brandon Weeden also played for the New York Yankees. Brandon Weeden was drafted in the second round by the New York Yankees. Steve Walsh also a walk on quarterback at the University of Miami led the Miami Hurricanes to a National Championship in 1987 as a sophomore. Some other Quarterbacks that played baseball professionally or were drafted by MLB teams are John Elway (Yankees), Tom Brady (Expos), Russel Wilson (Rockies), and Colin Kaepernick (Cubs).

Garrison Lassiter Red-shirted the 2013-2014 season and was considered a Red-shirt Sophomore for the Miami Hurricanes in 2013-2014 He did not see any game action. In 2013-2014 the Miami Hurricanes went to the Russel Athletic Bowl in Orlando FL and lost to Louisville. Garrison Lassiter competed in spring football of 2014 for the Quarterback position with Ryan Williams, Kevin Olsen, Gray Crow, Isaac Hoza, and Michael Welch.


Professional

Garrison Lassiter played five seasons of professional baseball with the New York Yankees Organization with the Gulf Coast League Yankees, Staten Island Yankees, Charleston Riverdogs, and Tampa Yankees. Garrison Lassiter was a former Shortstop and Third-baseman in the New York Yankees Organization.

Garrison Lassiter and Russel Wilson were both in the South Atlantic League in 2011. Wilson was with the Asheville Tourists and Lassiter was with the Charleston Riverdogs.

Garrison Lassiter is currently a Free Agent in baseball.


Family

Garrison Lassiters brother Landon Lassiter is an All American baseball player at the Univeristy of North Carolina. Landon Lassiter has been drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2012 as a shortstop, and by the Colorado Rockies in 2014. Landon Lassiter will play OF for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels in 2015.

Garrison Lassiters youngest brother Adam Lassiter (class of 2016) is currently being recruited by Division 1 baseball schools across the country including Texas, Kansas, Miami, Notre Dame, Wake Forest.
