LoCO2 Energy is a renewable energy and low-carbon electricity company supplying homes and businesses throughout the United Kingdom and is based in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire.[1][2]

LoCO2 Energy sources its renewable electricity a number of ways: on the open market, through private agreements with independent generators and via its sister company, TLS Hydro, a hydropower development company.[3]

History

[edit]

LoCO2 Energy was founded in 2009 and is part of a larger group of companies with more than 10 years' experience in the renewable energy industry.[4]

The group is headed by TradeLink Solutions, a renewable energy consultancy, energy trader, broker and ROC auctioneer, which was founded in 1997.[5]

TradeLink Solutions also founded TLS Hydro Ltd, a hydropower development company that builds, operates and manages hydropower stations throughout the United Kingdom.

LoCO2 Energy, TradeLink Solutions and TLS Hydro together form a 'vertically integrated' energy company.

Fuel Mix and Tariffs

[edit]

Currently, LoCO2 Energy offers 4 renewable and low-carbon electricity tariffs.[6]

  • Planet is a premium 100% renewable energy tariff. The electricity is sourced exclusively from wind, solar and hydropower sources.
  • Pocket+ is the standard tariff. Also 100% renewable, the electricity is sourced from a wide range of technologies, including wind, solar, hydro, anaerobic digestion and landfill gas.
  • Pocket is an economy low-carbon tariff. The electricity is at least 20% renewable with the rest sourced from good-quality combined heat and power (CHP).
  • Pocket Fixed is a fixed-rate low-carbon electricity tariff and has the same fuel mix as Pocket. Contracts are fixed for one year.

LoCO2 Energy's prices are competitive within the electricity industry in general, particularly so when compared to other renewable energy suppliers.
