Work
[edit]Travis works in television news which gives him both extensive first-hand knowledge of daily events and the operations of the new organizations which cover said events.
He started his career in journalism in September 1997 Sarasota, Florida at a 24-hour cable news channel called SNN6 as an Avid editor. Over the next three years, he would work his way up to producing shows. Travis was producing the coverage of President George W. Bush's visit to Emma E. Booker Elementary School on September 11, 2001 for SNN6 when the terrorist attacked. The rest of that week was busy for him, as a story with international impact unfolded in his backyard with the news that the terrorist trained just miles from the station in Venice, Florida. The week was capped off with Hurricane Gabrielle coming ashore near Venice, Florida on September 14, 2001.
In October 2002, Travis moved to Waterman Broadcasting in Fort Myers, Florida to work the news desk. During his time there, he helped drive coverage during several major stories including the landfall and aftermath of Hurricane Charley and four other tropical cyclones that hit Florida during the 2004 Atlantic Hurricane Season. Following those storms, Travis worked with the local emergency management districts to build an even closer tie with the media and to help present a more uniformed message to the public.
After three years of working in Fort Myers, the native-Floridian moved to Atlanta, Georgia to work for a local television news affiliate where he is today.
