Kiến An is an urban district (quận) of Hai Phong, the third largest city of Vietnam.

History

1. 1888: Hai Phong province is separated to form the province of Kien An and Hai Phong City
2. August 1902, the province was renamed the province of Kien An Phu Lien.
3. February 1906, the province Phu Lien renamed Kien An.
4. November 1946, Kien An merge with the provincial Hai Phong become Hai-Kien.
5. In December 1946, established the provincial capital town of Kien An.
6. In 1949, the province of Kien An contact zones 3 and 5 districts (89 communes): Tien Lang, Hai An, An Lao, An Duong, Kien Thuy.
7. March 4, 1950, merger of Thuy Nguyen from Quảng Yên.
8. September 26, 1955, Hai An with merged into the city of Hai Phong.
9. From October 1962, the province of Kien An incorporated into the city of Hai Phong. Before 1962 An Kien town is the provincial capital of the province of Kien An.
10. From October 27, 1962, when the province of Kien An incorporated into the city of Haiphong, the town is located in the city of Hai Phong.
11. By March 5, 1980, the town of Kien An entry with 16 communes An Thuy is: An Thai, An Tho My Duc, chien Thang, Tan Dan, Thai Son, Truong Son, Quoc Tuan, An Thang, An Tien, Truong Thanh, Truong Tho, Bat Trang, Quang Hung, Quang Trung to establish Kien An district, own inner part town Kien An (except three suburban communes) became the town of Kien An district with the same name. Since then, Kien An communeshas 19: An Thai, An Tho My Duc, Chien Thang, Tan Vien, Tan Dan, Thai Son, Truong Son, Quoc Tuan, An Thang, An Tien, Truong Tho, Truong Thanh, Bat Trang, Quang Hung, Quang Trung, Dong Hoa, Ha Nam, Bac Ha and 1 town Kien An.
12. 8 years later, on June 6, 1988, re-established the town of Kien An, Kien An even with 16 communes An Thuy (except 3 of the town of Kien An commune): An Thai, An Tho, My Duc , Chien Thang, Tan Vien, Tan Dan, Thai Son, Truong Son, Quoc Tuan, An Tien, Truong Thanh, Truong Tho, Bat Trang, Quang Hung, Quang Trung renamed An Lao district. Meanwhile, 5 wards : Quan Tru, Bac Son, Tran Thanh Ngo, Ngoc Son, Phu Lien and three communes of Dong Hoa, Bac Ha, Nam Ha.
13. August 29, 1994, Kien An town was officially converted into Kien An district, the district became the fourth inner city of Haiphong. When established, the county has nine wards: Bac Son, Hoa Dong, Nam Son, Ngoc Son, Phu Lien, Quan Tru, Tran Thanh Ngo, Trang Minh, Van Dau.
14. April 5, 2007, Quan Tru was divided into two wards Quan Tru and Lam Ha

Geography

As a special district is bounded between two rivers Da Do and Lach Tray. Kien An area of 29.6 km² and a total population of about 8.4 thousand people. This is the only district of Hai Phong is well endowed with both urban and plains, forests, very favorable for investment in the development of industry, agriculture, transport, particularly tourism, contributing to promote economic and social development in a comprehensive manner.

Tourism

Kien An the gateway to the southwest, away from the center of Hai Phong city about 10 km, is located at the focal point road, waterway, airway connecting with Kien An Hai Phong, Đồ Sơn, Cát Bà, Hạ Long Bay towards the sea; connecting Kien An with An Lão District, Vĩnh Bảo District in line ecotourism "excursions country". Kien An has Thien Van hill where is the largest observatory of the North, not only has the duty to serve meteorological, but also from a hilltop with panoramic views of Kien Kien An. Here, you may find yourself in a real jungle, and the climb up the hill, you can feel their efforts are not only has wasted money. You can zoom eye to the horizon to see a panoramic view of the Kien An district. With green whispering you will dispel  tired when come here on a hot summer day, the air is still cool like Dalat. We can say Thien Van hill have sharp resembling Da Lat.

Kien An has Hạnh Phúc lake there, this is a work of serving the people, beautiful  and large lake, conducted dredging embankment around, planting trees to create the scene of a beautiful park not inferior to any lake Park else. Recently vendors problem in the park lake is also rampant handling suppressed but still handcuffed exist. At the same time they are happy to be chosen as the site of the fair annual culinary culture. After each scene so that once ravaged the lake, throwing trash everywhere and polluted water in the lake is very serious!
