User:Tomas e/Wine articles to be nominated for Wikipedia 0.7
In addition to the bot-selected wine articles it seems like a good idea to nominate some additional articles at Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations using the full bot list of wine articles.
Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Release Version Criteria provides selection criteria, of which the following seem applicable here.
- Articles that give context
- GA+ articles of mid importance or higher
- B-Class articles of high importance or higher
- C-Class articles of high importance or higher
- Start-Class articles, if they are part of a set or are essential. Additional Start-Class articles may be selected by the bot if they are found to score very highly on importance parameters.
- Articles needed for completeness
In this case, signed comments/additions from other WP:WINE users are welcome.
Should be included

Comments
[edit]I definitely agree with most, except I do wonder about some of the regional articles. Considering the world wide audience, how many non-wine enthusiasts would really be knowledgeable of wine regions apart from maybe Bordeaux and Burgundy? AgneCheese/Wine 20:53, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
- Well, the purpose of an encyclopedia would of course be to make them knowledgable. :-) All of these would definitely be well known in several countries outside their own, if not necessarily as "all over the place" as Bordeaux. Tomas e (talk) 08:44, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Should possibly be included

- Wine fault (GA/High) - c2
- Fermentation (wine) (B/High) - (c1), c3
- Harvest (wine) (C/High) - (c1), c4
- Great French Wine Blight - (GA/High) - c2
- New World wine (C/High) - (c1), c4
- Commandaria (GA/Mid) - c2 (important "historical" wine style within the criteria)
- Madeira wine (Start/High) - (c5), c6 (major "historical" wine style)
- German wine classification (B/High) - c3 would be a self-nomination!
- Muscat (grape and wine) (Start/High) - c5, c6 (major grape variety/family found in many countries)
Comments
[edit]I think Madeira should be included as a major "wine style" much like Port and Sherry. I would also say yes to Vintage, Wine faults and Fermentation (wine) since those are "words and terms" that broad audience of wine drinkers and non would have heard of. The Muscat article is borderline simply because the family of grapes are found nearly everywhere. The other articles start to stretch the periphery a little and require more substantial familiarity with the world of wine to have heard of these terms. AgneCheese/Wine 20:57, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
