Adds a button which quickly inserts {{subst:long comment}} onto the current page, to prevent it from listing near the top of Special:ShortPages. This helps keep the list of short pages useful for patrollers, by keeping short pages which have a good reason to be that short (Wiktionary redirects, small set indices, etc.) out of the very top of the list. The script will not tag redirects or disambiguation pages (because they are excluded from ShortPages), or any page already 255 bytes or larger.

The button added by this script will appear in the "More" or "Tools" menu (same place as the move button), and will only appear on article pages.

Installation

[edit]

The easiest way to install this script is to click the Install button in the infobox on this page – if there is no button, enable the script installation gadget by checking the box next to Install scripts without having to manually edit JavaScript files under the Advanced section in Preferences → Gadgets.

Alternatively, place {{subst:iusc|User:Tollens/longCommenter.js}} at the very bottom of your common.js page, creating it if it does not yet exist. Do not add any additional text to the page (other than anything that was there already).
