National Latin Honor Society

The National Latin Honor Society, also known as NJCL Latin Honor Society, is a nationwide organization in the United States emphasizing excellence in Latin study and promotes Latin education; it is sponsored by the National Junior Classical League (NJCL). The designation is given to student members of the NJCL who have demonstrated student Latin performance academically and in the community.

Membership

Eligibility

To be eligible for membership in the National Latin Honor Society, the student must[1]:

  • Satisfy membership for the National Junior Classical League by becoming registered with both the state and national
  • Exemplify "good citizenship"
  • Maintain an A in the current Latin course

The student must also satisfy any additional requirements set by the teacher at the local chapter.

Responsibilities

A student who is inducted as a member of the Latin Honor Society must maintain the qualifications needed for eligibility and pay the necessary dues to state and national organizations.
