Examining and Questioning

I am figuring out the best way to participate here in the wiki world. Exploring the various pages is helping me to decide.

I am interested in sci fi and the paranormal. I study the philosophies and the hidden meanings in genres such as Star Trek, Charmed, Buffy, and Angel.

To see how others think, I start various topics on a few different message boards with a purpose of sparking discussions and see how others think; move beyond only talking about favorite episodes/characters. For the most part, I get very favorable comments about my ideas and views. A few however shows their own narrow mindedness and inability to look beyond what is in the scripts. Those people I have stopped worrying about. It is their lost.

I also write blogs and a monthly on-line newsletter about paranormal/general interest topics. What you won't find in the mainstream media.

I intend to bring to you various commentaries.

Commentary: Charmed

I am fortunate to have discovered Charmed when did. The series caters to a select audience which I certainly don't apply. However that doesn't matter. Anyone can enjoy and get something out of what Brad Kern and Constance Burge created.

I am not a witch or subscribe to the same beliefs as Wicca. So my opinion is solely an impartial assessment.

Basically the overall message for Charmed is empowerment. I don't mean girl power(or guy power). It is finding the strength within oneself and using it to change or help society.

You don't have to have magically abilities. Each one of us has something that makes us special.

Commentary: Earth Final Conflict

When the series began, I was impressed with the premise. What would we do, how will we act, during first contact by an alien race. That time getting ever so close.

The Taelons represent a life form that is described by many who can tell you a frightening tale of being abducted and experimented upon. The EFC writers takes a little dramatic license only insofar to make a yet stronger impression.

The progression from one year to the last demonstrated how our attitudes towards our companions will change. There will be those who lend support(collaborate) to our companions from space. There will be the rebels terrorizing the public. There will be no doubt a few like Sandoval who uses the opportunity to own advantage. Seeing our companions as nothing more than the means to achieve own goals.

The series ended way too soon. Rene and Liam heading to the Atavus homeworld could have been the launching point for another 5 years.

Commentary: Buffy the vampire slayer and Angel

So rarely do we have a series that entertains and examines the human condition. No...not a Star Trek series. We had 2 series using monsters and demons to show the internal struggles within all of us.

Big thumbs up to Joss Wheldon for some very creative writing. As you are watching are thinking about your own life. Like when looking at a painting, you ask what it means to you. What am I seeing why are these people trying to answer similar questions that I ask myself. An element of good writing is presenting a story with many interpretations so you can relate it to your life allowing you to find answers.
