[edit]- The people who create and edit articles in Wikipedia come from many countries, with individuals who bringing something different to the table, whether it be: researching skills, technical expertise, writing prowess or organisational skills, but most importantly a willingness to help. Any contributor to this encyclopedia, unregistered and registered alike, is called a "Wikipedian", or, more formally, an "editor".
- The goal is to create an open and free cncyclopedia that anyone can use and where anyone can contribute. The sum of all human knolwedge is being built by us, for ourselves.
- General policies
- Wikipedia is the starting point of research and not the end of it. Wikipedia is increasingly used by people in the academic community, from freshman students to professors, as an easily accessible tertiary source for information about anything and everything. However, citation of Wikipedia in research papers may be considered unacceptable, because Wikipedia is not considered a credible or authoritative source. Do your research properly and wisely. Remember that any encyclopedia is a starting point for research, not an ending point.
