Steven A. Finly, novelist and screenwriter.

Steven A. Finly (May 29, 1952) is an American novelist, screenwriter, and musician with seven produced feature films and multiple writing awards to his credit. His newest novels, "SINdication," and his "HIPSTERS TRILOGY" (Book One "Wasted." Book Two "HIGH LIFE." and Book Three "THE COCAINE DIET.") are set for release in early 2023.

Finly was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and attended Wayne State University and Oakland College earning degrees in music, art, and photography. While in his teens in Detroit during the 60s, his life was heavily influenced by music after his older brother, Jon Finly, created a band call the Lourds with renowned rock guitarist TED NUGENT, which later became the Amboy Dukes. For the next decade, Finly played in several bands, and recorded songs with the musical groups he started called "Ivan Rush," "Wolfticket" and "Poorboy."

In the early 1980s, his love of creativity took him to Los Angeles, California, where he began writing screenplays while working for film production companies like Embassy Films, Dino DeLaurentiis Films, Columbia Pictures, and Nelson Entertainment. Having sold over twenty screenplays, or been a writer-for-hire on nearly a dozen film projects, he was asked to pen a short novel based on his screenplay "Blind Trust," which was then turned into the feature film Blackheart, then continued to write screenplays and works are a camera operator on a number of films and video projects.

After a serious illness in the 2014, Finly moved from Los Angeles to live with his family in Florida, where his love for writing continued. While recoupling from several shoulder and back operations, he began writing again, but this time concentrating on novels. His newest books are set to be released in early 2023. Most notably, his novel SINdication, which is a dark comedy based on an award-winning screenplay of the same name, and a murder/mystery crime series called "THE HIPSTERS TRILOGY" which is loosely based on events that occurred during the 1960s, 70s, and 80s.
