I have a PhD in Biology (1992, University of California, Santa Cruz). My main areas of expertise are marine biology and ecology, invertebrate zoology and environmental science. I have been teaching full-time at the college/university level since 1992 - Manchester University (IN) 1992-2002, and Brigham Young University-Idaho (2002-present).

In addition to being a scientist, I am also a person of faith.

It has been my experience that when one keeps an open mind and continually searches for truth and understanding that any truth, whether discovered via scientific investigation or spiritual inspiration, will not contradict any other truth.

Politically I am independent. That is, I do not strongly affiliate with either major political party. Instead I seek out individuals who best match my views on issues of importance to me, as well as my views of good government, and then I support and vote for them.

I hope to make a few small contributions to Wikipedia from time to time.
