Week 1: Community Development Article Reflection.[1]

[edit]
  • Most of the info is up to date, however there are quite a few links to sources that do not work.
  • The article does a pretty good job of attempting to examine methods of community development approaches in different settings/contexts. However thorough explanations are lacking, a suggestion could be focussing more specifically one or two countries to narrow the scope of the article.
  • The article provides a historical context for community development approaches
  • There are several parts that need to be cited (ex. community development definitions), however most of the ones included are from reliable sources.Yet many our governmental sources therefore more academic/scholarly sources could be useful.
  • Heavy reliance on other wikipedia articles as sources instead of more diverse and scholarly sources (ex. in the different approaches section)
  • sections in the talk page have proposed merging the article with others on community organizing, mobilizing, and building to make a more complete, thorough and comprehensive article. I do agree because this article as it stands is limited in exploring the many components and factors of community development. Merging different components of community development, organizing, and mobilizing approaches would allow for analysis of structural an individual responses to community change/progress/growth.
