MOORE; Alan James (April 26, 1954) Alan Moore was born at the Niagara Hospital, in the Town of Niagara. He is the 7th generation to have lived there. His ancestry traces back to the late 1700’s, to United Empire Loyalist, Cornelius Thompson. American Revolution. Sometime prior to 1782, he was granted various land grants, one being the original farm. This farm was left to his son Francis Goring; who in turn left it to his son, John, followed by his son Frederick, then to his son Charlton (Chic), then finally to Frederick.

During Worold War II, Fred was a bomber pilot, flying a Vickers Wellington. Upon his return, he obtained his Engineering Degree, working in the Power Plant of General Motors of St. Catharines.

He was also active in local politics for many years, sitting on numerous Boards, including the Niagara Parks Commision. Prior to 1970, he was the Reeve of the Niagara Township. When the Town of Niagara and the Township of Niagara were amalgamated, he became the First Lord Mayor of the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. This Title was granted to this Mayor, and all future Mayors only, and is not afforded to previous Mayors of Niagara.

Frederick was survived by his wife, Margaret (Warren), son Dennis, and daughter Dale. Dale is married to Alan Moore, an U.E.L., and direct decendant of Lieutenant Garrett, second in Command of Major-General Sir Isaac Brock, whos family have also been residences of Niagara for over 200 years.
