The Crush Series

The Crush Series are educational #bookkits with illustrated children’s books and tools for parents to engage children.

The Crush books are written in English, in rhyming poetry, by Ian Worboys and are illustrated by Silke Diehl, and present the fun adventures of a group of animals with an educational message for children about the consequences of our actions.

The first book of the series, Frog Crush, is available for online purchase on www.thecrushseries.com, on Amazon.co.uk.

The Crush Series are published by Crush Publishing, a Czech publishing house, founded by author Ian Worboys in 2018.

The Crush Series books are designed as an educational and fun universe in which children learn by playing and a source of inspiration and resources for parents.  In addition to the first book in the series, the Crush website has games, audio books, a song and cool merchandise that will help children learn in a fun and engaging way from the witty characters of the Crush Series.

“Parenting was a personal development experience for me and, I am sure, for many others. I soon discovered that not taking yourself too seriously and being playful are key to capturing children’s hearts and imagination. Feed young readers with imagination and the results will stay in their lives forever” says Ian Worboys.

1. Frog Crush

The first book of the series, Frog Crush, starts with the thoughts of a hungry frog who fantasises about a crunchy lunch while sitting on a lily pad. A fish, a crocodile, a hippo and a fly all come into the story and make it more exciting and unexpected. The author recommends reading it while making silly faces and different voices, which helps children connect to the book and makes the educational experience more fun and memorable.

The Frog Crush is available for online purchase on www.thecrushseries.com, on Amazon.co.uk.

2. Author

The Crush Series’ author Ian Worboys is a father and also the CEO of a pan-European real estate company. His humour that is seen in the Crush Series flows into his work life where he often entertains his colleagues. It is also seen in each of his four children who have had to lovingly suffer his jokes and rhymes.

Whilst reading the books to his children at bedtime he would bring the animals to life through his hilarious impersonations. Sometimes he would be a funny imitator of a penguin, a frog or a kangaroo, his imagination as a writer of rhyming poetry fed the minds of his children and their friends. Their interactions with each other, their quarrelling, laughter and games of hide and seek were all inspiration for the characters in the books.

As a father of four, Ian found himself looking for fun books, preferably written in rhyming poetry, to help him connect to his children, entertain them and, most importantly, develop their imagination and creativity. Unable to find such books on the shelves of his local bookshop, he started his hobby of writing poetry. Some 100 poems later he started writing The Crush Series.

The author spent many happy evenings pretending to be the animals within The Crush Series. From making fish faces to trying to catch imaginary flies with his tongue. From waddling like a penguin to bouncing like a kangaroo. These acts of madness and hilarity brought him and his children much closer as they grew.

3.      Illustrator

Silke Diehl, a German interior architect and book illustrator loves to illustrate the Crush series and finds it as her biggest dream to have come to life. She has temporarily given up her job to concentrate on bringing the Crush series animals and characters to life. Her three children and husband are both her most serious critics and her closest support. The magic of her drawings and the beauty of Ian’s words have proven to be a winning combination.

4.      The Robbie Bobby Foundation

10% of the profits of the books’ sales are donated to the charity The Robbie Bobby Foundation whose mission is to help individuals who are struggling with health problems, mental or emotional issues as well as young sports people, in particular where a small donation will have far reaching benefits.
