I'm James Baquet, AKA The Temple Guy. I hope to bring my experience and expertise to pages regarding Chinese and Japanese Buddhist temples.

I have lived in both countries, and completed numerous pilgrimages in each (including visiting 132 of the 142 temples in the three-year-old article, National Key Buddhist Temples in Han Chinese Area). (Some of this is chronicled at my website, TheTempleGuy.org.) In addition to having completed the major coursework for a PhD in Buddhism at a Taiwanese-founded university, I hold degrees in English and education and have been teaching--mostly English and ESL--since 1981. And, I have been writing several times a week for over 12 years for an English-language newspaper in China.

These experiences, I hope, will help me bring some clarity and accuracy to the temple-related pages. Many of these pages on Wikipedia seem to have been added by non-native-English speakers who used translation software.

What I am not particularly good at is the "Way of Wikipedia." I beg your indulgence and support as I learn the ropes.

Thanks.
